yeah... :-/

some dude cut me off while in traffic, then suddenly made a complete stop. My brakes locked up and i slid right to the guy's truck in front of me. The guy had a yukon and my headlight when right into his tow hitch. my car didn't even touch his bumper lol. (ps. federal ss595 SUCK FOR GRIP)

engine is fine. I'm currently swapping out the core support cuz my radiator was pushed back. Frame is still in good shape, thank god.

the good news is, I already found a front end to put on... my buddy, who also had an aztec red s13 got t-boned at an intersection about a month ago still has his car sitting in his back yard. I'm taking his front end. Its near perfect minus the paint.

lol, everyone says "go kouki"

but I don't know... I've already seen more s13 kouki's on the roads in socal lately. I'm not trying to hop on the bandwagon, plus its crazy expensive (the oem stuff). I'm looking at like $1000+ for just the front end, then I gotta find the side skirts, then I gotta change my rear wing because it doesn't match the kouki lines.... etc. Not worth it imo. All of which has to be imported cuz no one apparently stocks kouki 180sx stuffs anymore.

lol, I'm only taking this time to finally put on my fmic that's been sitting for the past 2 years haha

I am however ditching the xenon lip and thinking about doing an eastbear front. I want the eastbear glass or lexan headlights, but those fvckers are hard as hell to find. I actually found a pair of headlights on ebay, but one of the lights was cracked, and it also didn't have the glass housing.. and it was still $500 lol

I just installed the defi triple din guages in my s14 and I'm debating whether to hook up the pressure gauge to display fuel pressure instead of oil pressure. I feel like there is more of a chance my walbro fuel pump could go out (again) than my rebuilt OEM oil pump..

thoughts?

When oil pressure drops things die...expensive things. When the fuel pump dies, the car runs like crap and then not at all. I'd go with oil pressure or both. Not fuel over oil.

I've never experienced a failing oil pump, but when my previous walbro went out the engine ran fine other than the detonation on cyl #4 at full boost.

..i'm just a bit paranoid about my fuel delivery lol

I was actually going to post, "get a knock meter"...lol. If I had my choice, I'd have a wideband O2, vac/boost and a knock meter as my 3 must have gauges.

I've had 2 fuel pumps go bad on me, both just died. I suppose running weaker than normal would create a lean condition. But you'd have to be actually watching the fuel pressure all the time in order to catch it. A knock meter, at least the ones worth owning, have an alarm when knock occurs.

When I was researching how to make my own knock meter awhile back, I ran across a guy that had his knock meter trigger an alarm and also turn on the relay that controlled power to his emergency water injection. I thought that was badass. You could always have it kill the ignition or something too, which would be wicked easy.

ah yes i've heard of those..it's too bad the stock one doesn't do anything to prevent detonation

When my fuel pump died it primed to 43.5 psi and seemed to run great, but the pressure would drop with more load so that's why I want something I can monitor while I'm driving. I was thinking of getting a second sending unit and running a switch so I can alternate between monitoring oil pressure and fuel pressure on the fly, but i'm not sure if a switch would mess with the resistance of the wiring and throw off the reading.

I think that's what the AEM serial gauges do.
Except the ECU just changes what sensor they're getting the info off of.
PBM sells a digital gauge for 180 that displays Temp and Pressure. It's small so it won't take up much room.
