Hi everyone,

I'm new to these forums and need help with my 1991 Nissan 240sx hatch KA24DE N/A. My engine has suddenly started running rough and doesn't accelerate like it used to. I have checked the cylinders by pulling the spark plug wires one by one when the engines running and have found that my 3rd cylinder from the front makes no change in engine behavior when pulled like the others did. I replaced the spark plug and it's sparking but I still have the same problem. I can also hear the fuel injector pumping with a stethescope so I'm not sure if that's the problem either but I used seafoam anyways through the fuel tank and the brake line which did help with the roughness but the problem still persists and the acceleration still sucks. Any and all help and ideas are appreciated!!!

Thanks ahead of time for your help.

Just because it arks didn't mean it'd got enough umph to fire that cylinder. It could be a torn plug boot or a corroded cap post. if its the injector being clogged, its possible that you could have a dead cylinder and still hear the injector fire. Id try switching plug wires. If no change there than switch injectors. if no change there than id say its in the wiring or ecu for that injector.

had the same issue with my vert the 1st cylinder injector was stuck open changed the injector and bam ran like a top. injectors are easy to come by for these cars worth a shot and take 10 mins to change on out

" Id try switching plug wires. " I forgot to mention that I'd already done this and the other cylinders work with the wire so it's not the spark plug wire. But I will try switching the injectors, and if that doesn't work I think I might take the valve cover off and replace the valve seals.

you can just unbolt the fuel rail and crank the car to see the fuel pattern, dont forget to point those things at a towel, otherwise you may end up with a flame thrower!!

Thanks everyone!!! it was the fuel injector. I used compactfean's idea and switched the injectors around and I got the dead cylinder to start working again and the cylinder I switched the injector to stopped running. Now I just need to find a used fuel injector at a wreckers.

If the injector is still functioning you could get all 4 back flow cleaned and flow tested, and rebuilt, for only $100.

Just put in a re-manufactured fuel Injector from rockauto.com and the car runs great!
