Hello All,I recently bought a 98 240sx and it hesitates when it is over 4000 RPM. I came to find out that it has a 95 engine and a 95 computer in it. I took the car to a local shop and it was throwing a egr, coolant temp sensor, crankshaft sensor, and a rear o2 sensor code. I replaced the coolant temp sensor and did a full tune up on it. I also installed an AEM intake on it. I've tried everything that I can think of to fix it but nothing works. I figure this would be the best place to find out what could be going on. Thanks for all of your help.

the crankshaft sensor could be it, i have heard of it happenin before, they are less than 50 bucks i know, if u just wanna inspect u can take it out even though its hard, and check the condition, my buddy had small peices of metal on his throwing off the signal going through rpm's

just a thought.

Well when you are going down the road it just sorta pulses kinda. It acts like it's starving for fuel. The problem with the crankshaft sensor is that there is no place for one. I do believe that it is a older 240sx trans.

did you check your plugs. when i got mine it would hesitate when i got on the gas. but i pulled all the plugs and one of them was done so the car was running on 3 cylinders. I replaced the plugs and everthing was back to normal.

When I bought the car I put the best NGK plugs available for the car. I haven't checked them since though. Tonight I'm changing the fuel filter over to the 300zx twin turbo filter because I do believe that it still has the original filter on it. Could the rear o2 sensor cause this? Whoever swapped the trans didn't put the 5 speed harness back on.
