I am buying a 97 DOHC to replace my 92 DOHC. I want to rebuild and port the 92 head and swap it out with the 97 after I swap engines. Are they the same head? I port heads for a living but I am new to import engines and need some help!

To answer your question, the heads are the same (someone else back me up on this.

I do not believe there were any major changes to the DOHC components as far as engine internals.

Of course I am also interested in how much you would charge for a port and polish, and how much time you would require.

Thanks for the answer. They look pretty much the same but I wasn't sure - I know you can't use the same distributor (or so I've been told).

I really don't want to get into side work but I could refer you to someone here who can do the job. I will answer any questions you have about head porting though.

I just did a head job on my 95, when I went to put on the head gasket the hole on the left front of the head where the small 10mm bolt goes into the block, right behind where the dist. is. was about a 1/4" off. The shop that I bought the head kit from had to special order the gasket that would line up with the holes, it turned out to be a 94 gasket. So be careful before you do all of that work, and check to see if the holes will line up first. They told me that their is a diffrence between the early and late ka24de engines, this could be just one of many very small changes they made to these engines that could be a problem when trying to interchange parts. I guess I'd just be better off doing the work before I put the 97 in. I really wanted to do a before and after! Where can I find out more technical detail about this engine? I've been looking for a 92 service manual on ebay but I haven't seen one lately (those things are high!). Anyone know where I can get one on cd or in .pdf format??

Thanks for helping me out Surf
