so just bought a 240 sx 2 weeks ago already got rims good tires and suspension kit on,
but tring to do tune up and ran into a little problem, guy i bough the car from says that the car has a ka24de from a 96, most parts are universal execpt distributor cap and rotor and spark plug wires are from a 92-94
where do you find the code for the engine to figure what year the engine came from, and car has other issues such as all vac lines have not been installed, will post pic tomorrow

With ka motors it doesn't matter what year it came from if it was converted to s13. (I really doubt he used s14 harness) so that would make all the parts you need for it 91-94.

If it has an internal coil then it is a S14, if it has a external coil then it is a S13 KA.

To check for vacuum leak get a brake "parts" cleaner. Start the car and slowly go around spraying it on the vacuum lines where they are caped off and if the idle changes, that's your vacuum leak.

Go to Napa or a similar arts store and buy vacuum caps. Get rid of the bolts. Then use water in a spray bottle and squirt the suspected areas. Don't use brake clean because it can cause a flash fire or possible engine damage. I have seen both happen and you don't want second degree burns on your face like a former coworker of mine. The two lines that come across the radiator go to the charcoal canister. Likewise there may be one on the side of the radiator that is the vent for the gas tank that went to the charcoal canister.

Can you post some pics and we can help you better to fix your leak.

Wow didn't know ^ that would happen but thanks for heads up... But I think starting fluid, or w/e it's called, would be way safer. Right??

No, you shouldn't use a combustible fluid. A alternative to water would be windshield washer fluid or even a engine degreaser.
