so i jus bought this 90s13 with dohc swap. the dizzy was out the motor so im putting it bac in and its weird trying to get it right. iv watched some vids and read some s*** and i know the basics of what to do. took off the valve cover and rotate the crank pulley till its at TDC with the two front cam lobes facing away 180. they really dont line up so perfect but i try my best. then i put in the dizzy lined up so the white rotor is at like 10'oclock which is suppose to be 1st cylinder at TDC. so i do that and then when i go to put the cap bac on to line it all up it wont. can someone plzzz help me, really wanna get this motor running.

anything will help guys, jus a kid who fell in love and wants to drive...

Put the dizzy with it being parallel to the ground, which is kind of before the #1 piston spark plug. Then turn the car on and adjust to get it on the last mark from the right on the crank pulley, standing in front of the car. You got a timing light right??

-TDC second mark from the left on the crank pulley, make sure the cam lobes are facing away on the int and exh cams.
-20 B.T.D.C last mark on the right side of the crank pulley.

i cant turn the motor on really right now and i dont have a timing light. im rlly jus tryin to get this motor runnin in my new shell right now.

if i turn the crank to the tdc which is suppose to be the second marking from the left, the cam lobes dont rlly line up flat with the valve cover, they kinda point up a bit from flat.

Well as long as you get it tdc, just to the timing like I stated above... Also get a timing light, you need it. And I think 23mm socket for the crank pulley, maybe someone else can chime in on that...

Yeah it's a 27mm socket for the crank pulley. If already turned it till the front two cam lobes point away from the center and the crank pulley is on the second timing mark frm the left. After all that I lined up the distributor sprocket and lined it up at 10'oclock and same with the cap. But when I went to start it I get nuthin. Thinking the guy who did the sohc to sohc swap didn't finish the harness, any ideas on where to start so I can fire it up and see if the distributor is right

well for starters check to see if the coil is getting any spark, take the wire out of the dizzy, the one that runs from the coil to dizzy. And set it on the strut tower and put a screw driver or something metal real close to it and have someone crank the car. Look to see if there's a spark going towards the screw driver or w/e you put there.

ill try that tmrw when i get sometime, but idk if thats it cause when i go to turn the key nuthing happens at all, like no turning over or sound. all that happens is the radiator fan comes on and the seatbelts move. im gonna check the harness dash connector to make sure its right/finished because the guy i bought the car from said he was in the middle of the swap

Make sure that the plug wires go to the right cylinder in the correct firing order the way the dizzy spins. When you put the dizzy in, with the cap off, the rotor should be where the #1 cylinder plug wire is. But It sounds like you have more problems than just that.

your timing it wrong bro......follow this carefully.......remove all spark plugs....put a rag or tissue paper in the #1 cylinder sparkplug hole...not all the way down of course.....rotate crank by hand untill that tissue pops out.....thats close to Top Dead Center "TDC" on the comp stroke.....line the crank pully marks to top dead center.....now look at your cams...they should be pointing away from eachother BUT slightly upwards allso...once you have the cams set...rotate the crank back to 20 degree's before top dead center.....with your dizzy installed and the dizzy cap on....find the #1 located on the cap.....rotate the dizzy so its top mounting bolt is in the center of its ajustment range.....now with a sharpe marker...mark ON THE DIZZY..not the cap..where the #1 sits in refrence to the cap.....remove the cap and look at the rotor's position...ajust dizzy till rotor lines up as close as possible with your mark on the dizzy...put her all back together and enjoy.....
