I'm currently building a ka24det and was researching an approximation of how much boost made how much horsepower. I found this thread very helpful so I thought I'd put it all together into a chart and make an equation for how much boost results in how much horsepower as seen on the chart.

If you plug in your desired boost for x in the equation you will get an estimate of how much horsepower your engine your will make, y. Of course there are many variations in power due to other mods but this will give you a pretty good idea of what kind of boost to shoot for in order to reach your horsepower goals.

I have been reading all these post and I see the biggest part missing. That is what compression ratio you guys have. I have built kat .20 over 9:1 20 psi @423 whp with 264/264 cams .5 over size valves.

-------------------------
I ran it like that for 2 years
and then broke the ringland on cyl#3.
now my new setup in the car is
Built sohc ka
eagle rods
Wiseco 9.0:1cr DE pistons(dish)
DE MLS head gasket
ARP main , rod and head bolts
o&j valves and valve springs
xcessive intake plenum*
ID 1000cc *
megasquirtPNP v2*
o&j stage2 hyd cam*
( * means not installed yet)

The built motor is in the car and running great with
my previous setup/tune, but nistune is not reacting to
timing changes so thats why I decided to ditch it and get mspnp . Im looking to run 18-20 psi on a pte5858 or gt30 when I hit the dyno next time or whatever it takes to get 350-400whp
