well, im pretty much here in a desperate attempt to save my KA. recently, when i start it up, it burns oil for about 10-20 mins. its really sad, and i dont even understand what would cause this on a KA with about 70k. is there anything i could do whatsoever to keep my car on the raod? i do know the last time the oil was changed, surpluss oil was added... im looking for any excuse right now, so could that be it how long will this last before she just dies anyway?

Well for me my motor was burning oil at around 110,xxx miles and I didn't have the money or time to swap in a new motor so I went ahead and Seafoamed it then changed the oil using 20W-50, not a blue puff since. I'm at 130,xxx now so... I don't know if I got lucky or what but it worked for me. Another plus to the seafoam is your neighbors reaction .

well today, i used this gunky stuff (dont remember the name) i got from the local auto parts store and added it to my new oil change of 10w-30. the oil burning stopped. when you did seafoam your car though, did you split the can in three, and add some to the oil, or how did you do it exactly? i know theres many different opinions on what you should do with the stuff. (in gas tank, oil, or the line near the passenger side of the firewall)

I put around 1/3 to 1/2 in the oil and the other 1/2 in the vacuum line on the manifold ran it pretty hard then changed the oil the next day. Worked for me. A lot of sootiness came out with a crap load of white seafoam smoke but ran clean and clear from then on I'm fairly certain that my gas mileage went up and my rough idle did cease. seemed to clean out the sludge/grime cause it was in the oil pan. also seemed to lessen the tick in the valve train that every 240 i know of has. Ima try using Techron engine cleaner and see what happens tomorrow maybe get a video for before after. Prolly gonna seafoam a Celica too. I'm also in the process of documenting ways to use certain cleaners to and additives to see if they actually accomplish anything. In addition I use STA-BIL in my fuel and it keeps fuel fresh and i get good fast starts after about 2-3 rounds of adding it at a gas station when I'm at a 1/4 tank then filling to 3/4.Ill post my findings soon!
