You're exactly right. Thats the same thing we figured. When we first finished the swap though, and decided to test everything to trouble shoot, we didn't have a boost gauge. After we got one and the boost read 1 bar, we came to the understanding that we must be overboosting. Someone told me that you can purchase a chip from the UK to program the ECU to not use any kind of fuel cutoff. Thats great, but wouldn't we still be putting too much stress on the motor and intercooler, and maxing out the stock MAFS?float_6969 wrote:Are you trying to run that turbo/boost on the stock MAFS? If so, you're maxing it out. Also, if you're trying to do that on the stock sidemount intercooler, you're asking for trouble.
thanks for the reply. this is not the first car i've tuned by far. Timing is on point. It is actually a little rich also. 12.2:1 and numerically lower all the way. SAFC is not really a bandage , it just tells the injectors how long or short over or under stock maps to stay open by altering mafs readings. It's a very neat device to say the least. Also increasing fuel pressure raises the amount of fuel going through the injectors during their open period so it makes the injectors have to do less work to pump the same amount of fuel. I'm on the stock mafs and it reads 100% but that just means the ecu doesn't add any more fuel above that so i just add more in with the safc. I'll have the EMS soon enough but i like the safc alot. It helps alot for only 400 dollars. But regardless not trying to be a smart *** just posting my setup and i've been running it at that for 2 months now and beating on it daily in 90 degree + weather and high humidity.F3600 wrote:Be carefull ,your walking in a dangerous field ... you should have you car dynoed to see if you a/f ratio are good all the way to redline ... definitly change your maf , injector and get a ecu retune eproom chip to run your turbo. I really dont trust the safc.. * i think * thats an safc only like a cheap bandage on a turbo car.
There a lot more going on that fuel pressure to be safe when boosting more than stock like timing etc .. anyway im just ranting
it's ok i bought it the day the safc-2 black came out direct. that was 3 years or 4 ago i believe. oh well i get em for half that now for customers.iliketocrash wrote:i'm glad someone else agrees that the safc isn't a "band-aid". It serves its purpose quite well. its for people who want the ability to tune a little and not have to go out to get a standalone to do so. there is no real point to getting a standalone if you're looking for under 300hp. unless of course you're racing the car and you need the reliability and efficiency of a standalone, but that's all different. but umm i'm sorry about your luck on paying $400 bones for your safc.
