Ok. I appreciate everyone's help and advice, and we did everything you guys suggested for my CA swap issues. We came to the realization then that it must be boost. We think the T28 might be overboosting. The stock p.s.i. for a GTiR is 14p.s.i.. If our boost gauge was reading correctly, the turbo is trying to put about 1 bar of p.s.i. into a stock CA18, whick makes sense because the turbo is from the GTiR. Now, to my knowledge, the stock CA is good to about 8p.s.i., which would mean the turbo is force feeding too much for the stock CA to handle. Obviously, the internal wastegate regulates boost, so the spring is set for the stock GTiR turbo, which boosts more than the stock CA. Is there anyway to change this, or am I stuck having to get a T25?

Humm could you be more clear in what your talking about ?

if i read correctly i must correct you.. the stock T25 CA18DET is good to 10 psi but its not limited by the engine but the turbo... if you put a t28 from a s14 or s15 i think you can boost up 17 18 psi ..

you can run the 14 psi that the gtir t28 is set at, but you need a ECU retune(bigger injector too) ... dont run that on stock Ecu you will blow your engine

Yeah, thats exactly right. I probably need a new ECU and larger injectors right?

I think the next step is obviously getting the stock T25 from someone, and using that at 0.8 bar.

Thanks for the help, and purely out of curiousity, what mods have you done to your CA, F3600?

Are you trying to run that turbo/boost on the stock MAFS? If so, you're maxing it out. Also, if you're trying to do that on the stock sidemount intercooler, you're asking for trouble.

You're exactly right. Thats the same thing we figured. When we first finished the swap though, and decided to test everything to trouble shoot, we didn't have a boost gauge. After we got one and the boost read 1 bar, we came to the understanding that we must be overboosting. Someone told me that you can purchase a chip from the UK to program the ECU to not use any kind of fuel cutoff. Thats great, but wouldn't we still be putting too much stress on the motor and intercooler, and maxing out the stock MAFS?

I have a GTiR turbo on my CA18....it wasn't maxing out my RB20DET MAF, but it was hitting the boost cut anyway....so I still had to remove that ( TP limit in the ECU )

i think i replied to you on 240sxforums too if you're the same guy., but i also have the gtir t28 on my ca18det and my mafs reads 100% after 10 psi on my safc but i have made 15psi so far. i just upped fuel pressure. The boost kept going up even though the mafs is maxed. I don't hit the fuel cut. But i did hit it until i retarded my timing 2 degrees. Maybe that will help you some more.

Be carefull ,your walking in a dangerous field ... you should have you car dynoed to see if you a/f ratio are good all the way to redline ... definitly change your maf , injector and get a ecu retune eproom chip to run your turbo. I really dont trust the safc.. * i think * thats an safc only like a cheap bandage on a turbo car.

There a lot more going on that fuel pressure to be safe when boosting more than stock like timing etc .. anyway im just ranting

Yeah, same dude. I wanted to get as much help as possible, so I posted on both sites. I'll try everything you guys suggest, or just put on a T25. Do you know if the T25 from the redtop SR will bolt on to the CA?

Thanks again for all of the help!!

I would suggest the smaller turbo for the time being. When you are ready, at a later date, you can reinstall it. I would only do it after you've got a larger MAFS, injectors, better intercooler setup, and an ECU retune.

thanks for the reply. this is not the first car i've tuned by far. Timing is on point. It is actually a little rich also. 12.2:1 and numerically lower all the way. SAFC is not really a bandage , it just tells the injectors how long or short over or under stock maps to stay open by altering mafs readings. It's a very neat device to say the least. Also increasing fuel pressure raises the amount of fuel going through the injectors during their open period so it makes the injectors have to do less work to pump the same amount of fuel. I'm on the stock mafs and it reads 100% but that just means the ecu doesn't add any more fuel above that so i just add more in with the safc. I'll have the EMS soon enough but i like the safc alot. It helps alot for only 400 dollars. But regardless not trying to be a smart *** just posting my setup and i've been running it at that for 2 months now and beating on it daily in 90 degree + weather and high humidity.

i'm glad someone else agrees that the safc isn't a "band-aid". It serves its purpose quite well. its for people who want the ability to tune a little and not have to go out to get a standalone to do so. there is no real point to getting a standalone if you're looking for under 300hp. unless of course you're racing the car and you need the reliability and efficiency of a standalone, but that's all different. but umm i'm sorry about your luck on paying $400 bones for your safc.

I've always been an advocate of the SAFC, up to a certain point. I think the best results are seen when a minor ECU retune AND are used. Somehow I just dont think running 550cc injectors on a computer setup to run 370cc injectors is safe. Other than that, I would be using one, as my power goals are failry conservative. Unfortunatly, due to the internal modifications performed on my motor, I needed better control of the timing, which wasn't possible on the stock ECU.

well of course you'll see better results with a chipped ecu and the safc. but i was just saying that the safc alone does exactly what it's supposed to and does it well. no point in getting a standalone if you're only looking for a little more hp.

it's ok i bought it the day the safc-2 black came out direct. that was 3 years or 4 ago i believe. oh well i get em for half that now for customers.

ehehe i was only giving my point i didnt wanted to start a discussion like that on your thread theShadow.

For the safc part, i see your point uno and iliketocrash maybe its because i never used it .. i used to have a first gen one but i sold it before using it.

first gen as in the one with knobs? cause yeah... those don't really serve too much of a purpose. lol
