I just bought my 96 240sx and I'm ready to start making some mods. Since I only have about 800, I just want to get an intake and exhaust for starters. I haven't been able to find any dyno charts comparing the different brands of intakes and exhaust systems. I would appreciate it if you guys could give me some input into what you think would best work with the stock motor. Or a website where I can find dyno comparisons, thanks.

intake and exhaust just help the motor breath better. your probably looking at 15 hp.

the "best" intake and exhaust is like honda retard crap.

go buy yourself the 40 dollar intake off of ebay, im not being an a$$ its the truth an intake is an intake. Hotshot headers go ebay or check the B/S/T forum, an id suggest megan racing catback exhaust or u can just go to a exhaust shop an have on made. Megan is madrel bent an all ull need is a test pipe an itll prolly only run you bout 100 more than a exhaust shop. So your at bout 600 there, then id get an lsd so ull be in the range of 800-900. Or get yourself a pair of 91 cams, if you got a manual do this, if u got an auto get a transmission swap, its the truth.

actually, if you check the forced industion forums, theres a sticky to an intake review that I *think* was in option mag a while back. and intake is not an intake, theres a lot of engineering and materials differences./..you get what you pay for. now given, its not going to be over a 2hp difference between intakes on a n/a car....but its stil a difference.-chet

quality??? Its a metal pipe!! its not like its a turbo, i mean hell if we didnt have a MAF we could just run an open throttle body cant get anymore quality than that an its free.

since when is the metal pipe a quality issue...

christ this amases me that people want to debate this.LOOK AT THE FLOW NUMBERS. a good quality engineered air filter(yes, the filter portion) will work better, work longer, and gain you more hp(and will flow better in higher HP applications..)

if you cant understand the simplicity of good engineering, go buy an american car.-chet

just my 0.02 cents.

Expensive "ricer" intake = CARB number so no emission worries where they could be.
