Thanks guys, for your compliments on my car - it is always a plus to receive encouragement from NICO memebrs who love their cras like I do.
To answer 1qckser's question on suspension:Yes, I will eventually replace my suspension and lower the car a little - If you've been to my cardomain.com page, you can see the suspension kit by Zauber that I am interested in. I am choosing to go with the shock/spring combo instead of the adjustable JIC kit because price aside, I am not a full on tuner and I won't deal with the hassle of adjusting my suspension on a daily basis or on a yearly basis for that matter - I think for me JIC is just an overkill. I thought about picking up some Tokiko blues so many of you guys talk about in this forum (due to the lack of alternative aftermarket kits for the Q) along with some domestic springs but it seems true that the available Tokikos (if I can find a set) for my year Q ('97-98) are no longer continuously manufactured and whatever's left for purchase may have been stored for a lot of years, which probably degrades the quality of the shocks even if I buy them new. The Zauber kit is just coming into market and if quality can be assured I think it will be a better route to go, despite the difficulty in bringing them over to the US. For your info, there are about 4 to 5 different manufacturers who sell direct replacement shocks/struts kits for '97-2001 Q45s that I know of, some are priced around $300USD before tax and shipping - It's just too bad that none of them are willing to ship internationally. My contact in Japan is searching around for the best price for the Zauber kit that I mentioned so I'll let you know when I can get a set over here.
Regarding the concerns over JDM headlights abd the possible danger it may pose:I seriously don't believe the light projections on the JDM headlights pose any more danger to oncoming drivers than a set of HID lights. I have personally compared these headlights against the true HID headlamps and believe me the HID lights are much more of an eyestrain compared to these... of course I am not a technician calculating exact projection angles and stuff, but in my opinion the difference to the US model is very minimal. To answer the other member who asked what the purpose of change is... my purpose of the change in headlamps are pure aesthetics - I am expecting any type of a performance improvement from the jdm headlamps and actuallly there is none. The only noteable difference besides the possible projection angle difference is that these headlights come with the corners already cleared out, without the amber signal section like the US model. IT JUST LOOKS BETTER! My Deilema is which one to install on my SIlver Q - the standard on looks very clean all around and the Touring model headlamps with the blackend out surrounding (like the oes Rex posted in this thread above) looks aggressive and are more difficult to obtain - what do you guys think? Regarding the Stillen Air Intake, I can't really tell you much on the performance improvements since I don't have the means to measure it, and since I put in both the exhaust and air intake at the same time, I can't really tell you if it is any better with it or without it - I just figured that the combination of the two would perform better. One thing that you must deal with is that the fron end noise is louder than with the original air filter system, although it doesn't bother me a bit.
For Chaz98Q45t: I'm sorry Chaz, but I don't have a link for the exact MOMO shiftknob and steering wheel that I have because it is a dealer item and you must special order (I believe it costs $300 USD for the shiftknob and about 1 grand for the steering wheel) But try this link below to see what is available for the Q. It is a Popular Japanese Accessory shop for the three different Q45 models available in Japan along with Popular Lexus models - after getting to the link, click on "VIP" and you will see a 3 page copy of their catalog. There you can see some of the shiftknobs available for your Q45 (Y33) and prices in Japanese Yen.
There is a Japanese Magazine called the "VIPCAR" which is considered the bible of highend sedan upgrades. One of the 2003 issue is dedicated to Q45/Y33s and I will post some pics on the "Member Rides" section of NICO - see what the Japnaese spoiled brats are doing to their Q45s.
