This is complete and utter horsesh!t. Who the hell told you that? Have you been through Army boot camp? How about Army sniper school? I won't even bring up Ranger school. Don't talk trash about things of which you know nothing. You would have a rude awakening if you showed up at Fort Benning with an attitude like that my man. Best of luck to you.

lol, average person wanting to do the military. I was not trashing the army and have utmost(sp?) respect for anyone who joins any branch of the military. I did not say boot camp was not hard, i didn't say a word about rangers or sniper school ...and as long as we're on the subject, ...I was not downtalking other branches because I didn't mention them..did you miss the part where I said that I thought anyone going to war was making the ultimate sacrifice....it's just my ****y marine attitude coming through..please excuse me~

I am in the same boat, but for a diff reason.. I am joining the Army to fly, and the 2ndary reason is the $$ for college.. My father is in Europe right now, on his way to somewhere in the middle east, He is a uh-60 blackhawk pilot, the same machine I will be training in this fall..

Here is my 2cents... If it isn't in your heart, don't do it.. You may kick your butt your entire enlisted career and thing "Wtf was I thinking???" Or maby you will find that the Army is right for you..

But remember, do what -you- want.. Personally I reccomend the military, and this war won't last more than a month or so in my opinon..

Jar head..that's what my girlfriend's dad calls me(he's a navy punk)...lol...it seems like there's always competition between the branches..yet we're all working for the same thing ya know?...i think it's hilarious...on saturday mornings are recruiters get use running and yelling to a cadence and we run past all the other offices(navy airforce and army), and shuot this cadence downtalking them..lol...i actually thought about doing army rangers or marine recon...but i really wanted a job i could use in the real world(other than just being a ripped out badass)...and my friend is going through the navy right now and trying to become a seal(dear god!)....~Jarhead

yeah i heard it wont' last more than a month, if it start anytime soon i'm still aitn' in it yet. If it start 2 mont later, i'll probably be in my 1 month of bootcamp(if i joined that is)

See i do want to join but everyone just saying mad shi* with the war ****. So i don't know.

Thats why your joining the Marines! just playin. Ive always looked at it as "friendly competition". I know, and have told, all the jokes in the book (i worked side by side with all the branches at one point or another). And the correct reply for him calling you a "jarhead" is "squid", in case you didnt know.

The war may not last long, but we will be in Iraq for several years. If your worried about the length of the war, then perhaps the military is not for you.

I admit I fell for the Enlistment bonus too and all the good things the recruiter says,BS artist. The funny thing is that depending on your ASVAB score and job specialty you will qualify for a bonus, no bonus for me but at least I got something that I'll benefit from. Also since I did 3 years Njrotc I'm going in as an E-3,better than nothing. I also picked my MOS for a purpose ,school is 22 weeks long.

Well man, what ever you decide to do with your future, we all respect that.. Just do what you want to do, and take the advice we send you into consideration. Don't let our own choices affect whats in your heart and mind though..

Good luck man.

Marine vs Army:

The last time a marine was mouthing off to this soldier we were conviently located at a fight club in Lexington Kentucky.

" man I can kick Army ***, I am in such good Marine shape"

He was almost ten years my junior and I kicked his *** all over that ring.

He gave up in the second round after he went down <hard> for the third time....:D

I like it right now its just they sent me here to north dakota ! DAMNIT! anyways you should talk to ur air force recruiter because right now we are the only branch that pays 100% tuition on education, credits we recieve example boot camp and tech school credits count toward another university IE: University of California Los Angeles so yea i enlisted last year july 2nd "went to boot camp" oh yea we also have the shortest boot camp like 8 weeks :D i graduated tech school december 12 and was promoted to E-3 and last week recieved my bonus of 7k "after taxes and **** 5,100" looks like i have money for RB25DET ..... anways back to the subject if you do decide to goto the army, good luck ! wow my first post..

Lol, the ASVAB, thta test was such a joke. Almost everyone I knew got a 98-99 on the speed-decoding part, I guess there was a small contingent of future decrypters or something in Sacramento, CA. As for the overall test, I got some crap like 99 overall. The funny thing is, they send me the same "be a nuclear physicist" crap as everyone else... Give me a little respect here! (don't mean to be big-headed here)

I have thought about the army, and I think it would be interesting. Get to know guys like brothers and whatnot. My issues are with (1) death, (2) i stuck at running anything over a mile, (3) my uncle is a commander in the navy and says its corrupt as all hell and that i shouldnt get involved, and (4) they have less to offer me for computer science than the private sector. I like the idea of firing guns and learning all the cool tricks you learn in training. It's like a survival course for life that will help you throughout, at least from what I've seen in my friends who have gone off... It really depends on what you want to do with your life. Military is corrupt and evil, but can be very fulfilling by defending your country and the awesome benefits you get from it.

I have to say this. I just got out of the navy after four years. I joined four days after I graduated high school cause I didn't wanna go to college and be in debt for 20 years. I had to wait like 13 months for my secuirty clearance which sucked. 13 months of just hanging around before I could go to my school. After I got it and went to the school I got sent to Fort Meade, MD (and yes I am in the navy sent to a army base.) The work there was fun yet repetetive but after four years I am out. I am 22 years old, have no college, and just got a job for $60,000. Now thats not a ton and I am not saying I am rich but I never went to college, am debt free, and how many 22 year old make that kind of money anyway. I worked with all services have many friends in all of them. The biggest complaint from my army friends was how the army was structured. And they treat them like preschoolers by making them do physical training. The navy requires 3 times a week also but it is pon your own. Don't knock the military. I would be nowhere without it today. email me at [email protected] if you got any questions.

If I was you I would seriously take in consideration for the National Guard. I am Active Army and it kinda sucks. I have been in for about 2 years. If I had the chance again I would of went to National Guard. Plus depending on what state you live in you could be eligable for free tuition, plus all the benefits the Army has the National Guard also has like the GI Bill. Plus you get to go home after you finish your school. Weekend Warriors are the best. Well thats just my input. Good Luck in your future endeavors.
