So I just got home from the port with my new adventure. 1984 Fairlady Z with 60K miles. White and in great shape. Odd engine tho, a V6 single turbo Engine code VG20. I need to get a few things so am looking for some help.

Antenna makes noise, but doesnt go up or down, just stays down.Few instrument lights are burnt out. Need a how-to on replacing them.Need a US "owners manual".Where is a good place to buy parts that isnt retail? Hood shocks dont work, or one of them, wont stay up.

Might bring a few more over since they are perfectly road legal at age 25.

How much did it cost to get it imported? Got pictures?

You can download an owners manual from http://www.xenonz31.com

VG20ET is the little motor. What's weird about it? All Z31s were single turbo if they were forced induction.

Hood shocks are available at any auto parts store. But it depends on the parts whether you should be buying Nissan or going with replacements.

Here is a link to some pictures taken at the Yokohama Port.

It was not a lot of money to get it here. It was easy getting it through customs and off the dock. As long as any car is 25+ years old, it is fairly simple getting them imported. Have to add about $2500 from Japan to your door here in the US.

WOW! So I got sober enough to realize all the pictures of are of a car in Japan. Now post some pictures of the car in North America or get the f*** out. Seriously. I hate lying worthless douchenozzles. And you, with pictures of an "imported car" with no pictures of it on this side of the pond qualify as a douchenozzle. Sit and spin.

BTW: If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm your worst nightmare. An obnoxious, know-it-all-***hole with free reign. Put out, or get out. That's my motto. (sorry Greg, Tori, et.al.)

Jeesh your brutal lol~!. But I suppose I understand. I hear the same crap over at my other forum where I have been a memeber for 9 years. This is new to me over here on the Nissan side. I have a MKiV Supra as my fun car (Under the cover in the garage) http://www.97supraturbo.com. Plus I have an '09 R35 GTR. (You want a picture of this as well~!)

I am quite fond of my license plate...helps to know someone at DOL

Very nice. Now...

How much did it cost you total? I see it was an additional $2500 to get it over here, but that doesn't tell me what you spent on it?

I find that people who spend a relatively large chunk of change to buy a car don't like it when people ask how much the car cost (a painfully recent revelation for me, I'm afraid). Even more so for a guy who spent a relatively large amount on a 20+ year old car. I know a guy with a rather nice collection of Zs (a few 10th AEs as well, yum), and he certainly doesn't seem to like it.

I'd guess over 10K overall though, but it would be different since it would depend on how much you buy the Z for in the first place. Either way, it's more money than 99% of the Z31 owners would be willing to spend for a car anyway.

Well, you will find out here in about 2 weeks when it goes up on auto trader or Ebay. Depending how well it goes, I may bring over a few more. Or I may not, or I will bring over other cars, dunno. But after having a smitten of bashing here, I think I will bring over a 25yo Toyota. There nicer over in those forums~! I am trying to make a living doing this in my retirement years (hint hint)

What a douchenozzles ^^^

Seriously?

The man stated the pics were taken at the Yokohama Port....

He wasnt trying to hide anythig or look cool by importing an 80's Z for Gods sake. Your view of the world is skewed AZ_BUM.

Dont you dare use the excuse of all the little morons coming on here bragging about something they dont have or weeding out the ricer wanna-bes by acting this way.

You sir should be weeded out. Even is Stu was a 15 year old kid bragging about some pics he got by googling who the hell gave you the right to act or treat someone in such a way? If you dont believe the person dont post.

I've dealt with alot of ego pricks on here and its sad. The mods are morphing and its not enjoyable.

Nice car stu, yea I wouldnt blame you for leavin or plain never buying a Nissan again. Hell people like this make me wanna sell mine.

This makes me angry inside and im not sure why. As enthusiats we should share experience, ideas and cars not belittle everyone that comes on here with a stupid question or dream car ideas.

Nissan..... The next BMW!!!!

wow, the nicer folks are responding now. My faith has returned~!

I do get over there cause I have kid going to school there. Arent there any GTRs over there? Maybe not as many. I havent seen many lately on the road. Must be the weather.

Got a new antenna for it today from a place called Feltons. They have sooo many old Z parts there. Now all I need is new hood shocks. Surely dont want to pay over $300 from the dealer. Car drives great. Feels firm and no squeaks or rattles. Not the fastest car Ive been in lol! The boost gauge goes to 7psi. Although I noticed that teh oil and water temp guages show real low #'s. Must be casue there in 'C' and not 'F'

I didnt know Nissan made a 2.0 V6 either. Kinda odd, I agree. and why would the boost gauge read in PSI when the temp gauges are in Celcius. I always assumed boost was read in bar everywhere but here.

When you come next time bring the GTR. There are a few around, dont know anyone with one tho. They are a blast. It would be my year round car if I had that kind of money.

Glad I could be of help. I'm just waiting for the excusses of trying to weed out the posers and what not instead of manning up an appologising for the behaviour. We are all about excusses this day and age arnt we....

On a side note, I'd love to import an early Skyline. Even an R31 would be old school cool. Maybe we can talk.

I think that if you can seriously get rattled by somebody acting like an ***hole on the internet, then you probably should think of other ways to spend your money other than importing cars to sell.

Irreguardless, good luck with the sale. Be sure to post up afterwards, I'm curious how much one of those would go for. Can't say I'm interested (I don't have that kind of money), but I am interested (for curiosity's sake).

Irregardless is not a word. And anyone who pays stupid money for a piece of shizzle JDM pile of carp import gets to get bent over the coals.

Seriously. Why the @#$@ did you pay money for that worthless pile of jizz?

A good condition Z31 in the states can easily be had for the $2500 import cost if you look hard enough. And don't say it's because of the low mileage. That's a load of carp also. I still can't believe that people who know cars even look at that stupid odometer. Anyone who really knows cars knows that it's only a number by which to know when the last maintainance was done.

It's a double negative that I am using as an emphatic, as well as using it in a patronizing way. I do stuff like that. What you didn't point out is that I misspelled it, if you are going to poke at my posts then do it proper.

As for buying it, I don't think there would be too much of a market for these cars. Just because you don't want to pay more for a less common car doesn't mean a collector won't pay more though. He'll probably be able to sell this one, if not too many others.

Since a few were interested, we sold the car this week for $6200. So that is its "worth". It was loaded on a transport in Wash heading to Alabama.

I think you mean "ROTide" (in the bama accent this is what "ROW Tide" sounds like)
