Hi! I just got a 1990 240SX SE, and I have a few questions.

#1: Should I rebuild the KA24E and build up the internals for boost, or should I swap in an SR20DET? Which is more cost effecitve?

#2: Who makes the best suspension parts for 240s?

#3: How hard is the LSD swap? This is my first car and I wanna learn on it, so is it that difficult?

#4: Are there any "free" power upgrades?

each and every one of your questions has been covered and covered again...you will get alot better answers if you search it first...get some general knowledge down, then ask for the specifics...

question 1. thats really on u, some people think the sr is more cost effective, some people boostin the ka is more cost effective

question 2. best suspension? how deep is your wallet? you can get tein coilover products that range anywhere from 1100 to about 2000, hks makes coilovers that cost over 2000, apexi also makes coilovers...

question 3. i wouldnt say its necessarily hard...how good are with working on cars? if its your first car, have either a shop do it or a mechanic guru friend of yours give you a hand

question 4. yes, there are a few for your year 240...search *free mods* and you'll get your answers...

hope this helps

#1: probly redtop SR would be most cost effective IMO, but its hard to give u an answer...is ure car gonna be street car, track, drag, etc. BCUZ each will be set up differently.

#2: a lot of companies make good suspension parts for 240s, Eibach, Tein, Whiteline, and Tanabe are some companies that make good quality springs.Apex'i, Tein, JIC, Cusco, nismo, etc are companies that make good coil-overs.KYB (AGX), Koni, and Tokico make good shocks/struts.As for Sway bars, Supension Techniques and Whiteline have good ones.Strut bars... Apex'i, Cusco, JIC, are some of the argueably better and higher priced bars, Greddy and Tanabe are some good ones and a lil cheaper, and then theyre are budget, but argueably moderate quality like Pilot Motorsports and OBX. then there are the super cheap, POS Ebay bars for 10-20bux.

#3 if u nothing about it, have a shop do it.

#4 drill some holes in the bottom of the intake box OR for a small amount of cash, throw on a cone filter in place of the stock airbox assembly. U could strip ure catylitic convertor if u are in a state WITHOUT emissions testing, put in better octance gas (wont give a noticeable diff, but its something simple when u go to the pumps, and ure engine will thank u in the long run) thats about all i can think of right now, hope some of it helps.

As far as the suspension, I dont want to spend too much. Maybe likie $1500.

This is my first time working on a car, but I have done some basic work.

1500 u say for suspension? 1500 on just coilovers or everything combined, sway bars, bushings....etc...if you wanna spend 1500 on just coil overs i would say go with tein...off hand, im not sure which model is best for street racing....maybe the ha's? but i believe they are discontinued and replaced by the tein type flex...not 100 percent accurate...any other suggestions guys?
