If things are as good as you say, then it's a good find. I'd drive it at highway speeds before sealing the deal just to be sure the motor holds up to the accelleration, etc. One man's junk may be another's treasure. If it's been tinkered with, it may be a bit of a challenge to figure out what's wrong, (that is . . IF . . sometning's wrong. . . LOL ).

I agree w/ boatman... Take it out for a drive and see how she runs. Might wanna do a compression check after to see if ur gettin into ALOT of headaches. BUT...For 450 bux? damn...SCORE! FYI...Chevy 350ci WILL FIT! LMAO!

I'd go with chrome. Matches every color. Easier to sell if you ever decide you want something else. Just my opinion. See what others think!

Ooo... gaudy steal-me rims that cost more than the car!

Naw, if you like 'em then get 'em, it's just not my style  (that said, chrome > red for the same reasons fastboatman said)

Where'd that tail gate come from? I don't recognize it's style.

You said it was coming from VA, where are you at? NC or MD or WV?

yes it came from VA a local junkyard is paying top dollar to bring in cars from the south . i have a Vehicle Registration in front of me that says the car was from Midlothian VA

i have no idea what tailgate that is nor do i know what roll pan that is either ........ seems like alot of diffrent parts were put on this truck that someone was building... between the grill, hood, roll pan, now the tailgate... think i got lucky on this one

Not feeling the spokes, the truck has a more sporty look than a hooptie look.

Chrome all the way dude....i love lowriders and a set of knock offs wouldnt look to bad imo...the body parts all look rite except for the early model hood...i can tell you the extra rear valance you have is off an earlier model truck also befor they moved the back up lights....If you decide to use the one with lights in it let me know what you want for the late model one with no lights ill buy it off ya and have it shipped..iv been looking for one for a while now...

Hood probably came of a 80 - 82. Tailgate is off a 85-86 720 "ST" model. Top of the line model, I would love to have it. The rollpan is off of a 83-84 because the taillights in those models only had the brake light and turn signal so they put the reverse lights in the rollpan.

I gotta pick up a spray gun. Even though you have two colors (looks like 3 peeking at that tailgate) it's still way better than a half primered rig, or even a fully primered one. The gold/chrome wheels are a nice step up from the steelies. Lookin good man. Nice to see another 720.

dont understand why people just get up the courage buy a spray gun and just follow directions from a local auto paint dealer ....

i dont think im talented but with some time and practice on a hood prior to doing my 240sx engine bay gave me some time to dial in the spray gun and how to move with it ..
came out okay for 180bucks on the engine bay ....

Yeah I need to just go grab the sprayer and some paint from a friend. But I need to do a little body work on my 240 hatch before paint. That bay looks pretty baller.

How long did it take prep and all?

well i preped the engine bay by cleaning it down with some simple green from dollar store

let it dry , then took a scotch brite pad scuffed it all up , wipe off with wax and degrease remover ( picked this up at local auto paint store),

next i undercoated the frame rails let that dry overnight almost 24hours ( i used 3m professional undercoating can pickup local autozone and its paintable )

used some black primer since i am painting it black let dry , then through down some urethane acrylic base ( Black), then Mid clear Flake , let dry for about 2 hours, then i hit it with some

Speed clear with a fast hardner since i dont have a paint booth for it to dry

the most important thing to do is scrub your engine bay till you can say you would eat off the engine bay before you paint :)

also read directions the auto paint store prints out for you , Recoat windows are very important and set dry times are important as well , remember if you air dry double the time

any more info you need just ask :dblthumb:

it's crazy what a few hundred bucks in paint will do to your vehicles value, and that engine compartment is slick! Just like any other trade the key to perfection is in practice, and you gotta start somewhere. Ahh but I'd love to paint my 720 blue, perhaps when I'm not scraping just to keep rigs on the road and can get some full buildup projects going. Keep up the good work dude.
