I like the black BMW better than the rusty one. IMO, the rusty look will be harder to achieve because it takes time to get an even coat of rust like the BMW has. I have thought about doing a "bare steel" look. Strip the paint to bare metal and then clear coat over it. I recently saw a hot rod magazine with a car done like that.

If you want your ride to get attention, you have to break into new ground with your ideas. Whatever you choose to do, keep us posted.

the black one is the SAME CAR just rubbed down with oil and diesel to wipe off the orange color and slow the rusting process

Well, I for one don't want diesel fuel or oil on the surface of my car.

Here's an interesting observation, see if you agree.
Take any totally Rat Car or Rod or Truck or whatever . . . . and put expensive wheels and tires on it and it seems to say . . . . . "I can afford whatever I want" . . . "but I do things MY WAY" . . . . "and this car looks this way 'cause I want it to look like this!"

BUT . . . If the wheels and tires are not "expensive" or nice enough to show off, then the SAME CAR will look like somebody gave it to you and you deserve pity!

Look at the Beemer in the pics you posted and see if you don't agree. LOL!

Would be nice to have a straight enough rig to start with and do just that. One of the hotrod guys in town did that after he primered his 30's chopped something or other. Worst part was when he finally went to paint it the atf was eeeeeeverywhere and impossible to clean up completely. Like sandblasting with no protective gear on =P Please keep us updated as that look was sick, both before and after.

Not necessarily. All the trucks here after 82 came with the reverse lights in the rear valance or the step bumper. I've seen some pics of trucks across there with the same set up as those here. Once you have these type of lights Image
the reverse light will be in the rear valance.
