what is the deal with these jdm turbo kits and why does everyone keep sayin they will not fit. i know about the steering column thing and the wastegate having to be moved but to where? and what about the downpipe what if anything has to be done to it?

The problem is that the bottom mount turbo systems are located where the USDM cars have the steering linkage. Im not quite sure how you would go about moving the steering linkage as its not something you generally do. Frankly if the turbo is a top mount unit then you should be able to get away with it since the only thing running down past the steering linkage is the downpipe. I know you can barely fit a T3/T4 turbo on the SR20 with it being bottom mounted.

take for example the greddy t67 kit. from my understanding it is a high mount system and the wastegate tube runs downward. now now solving this problem shouldn't be hard if it is a problem. just cut the tube and weld extension on (if needed) and problem should be solved. now as far as the downpipe goes i'm not sure...you???

Yeah ... there are several options being a wastegate tube. You could route atmospherically out the fender, extend the tube, etc. There shouldnt be a downfall to modifying the tubes length or its destination.
