Anybody know what the numbers (the 2 on the top) should be for a 240SX? I know the numbers on the top line represent the vehicle class code (based on engine size). (Wonder if its litres?) Any difference between the CA/SR/KA? Let me know...

ahh so thats what the 3 digit # is for.

i knew that the first character on top was the name of the prefecture the vehicle is registerd in then a 3 digit # and the bottom kanji and #s were the ID code.

only thing i noticed about the 3 digit code was larger and more powerful cars started with a 3 and smaller less powerful cars had a 5 or 7.

now i know what the 3 digit # is for:D

of course most of my knowlege of japanese license plates comes from playing tokyo exteme racer*L* (you certainly get good at identifying cars by chassis code playing this game*L*)

anybody got an explanation on why the s14 gets a 3xx designation though? It's still 2000cc, does the extra weight suddenly shift it into the 'heavy' category?
