if scott still has his J for sale when i get back from the rig this next time out i just might pick it up from him and start my VH45DE swap...what part of htown r u fromgangstar946 wrote:ok..as some of you know i just bought a J bout a month ago. Turns out the timing belt was changed at 80k...everything else is good....i had alot of V6 mustangs pulling up to me when i bought it....but they didnt do anything...maybe to intimidate me. So...i thought id pull up to one.
After being in the garage for a while i thought i should do this one last thing before it rests in garage for the coming months.
I disabled the traction control...then went out. finally pulled up behind one..he looked over his mirror....and then took off when it was green( slight wheel spin)...but i wasnt intimidated this time...pulled right next to him the nex light. dropped it in 1.....2, 3, D. off we went.....he had me till 75....shifted to 3rd and the cams took care of everything. mustang was way back...my j was smooth as silk @ 120. good race!.....you guys should try it!...except for kbflip02...hes already got enough mods to race a GT.
Ive also noticed....a bunch of tt and v8 swaps on here...is anyone actually going to do it?!
thats right down the road from me...lol...yeah hopefully all goes according to plan so i can finally get startedgangstar946 wrote:i live on fm1093 and Mason rd. where katy and richmond meet. looking forward to the swap. good luck!
I hate to say it, but IMHO, it doesn't take much to beat a V-6 Mustang. They weigh almost as much as a J30, but don't have the engine to pull it. BTW, what year Mustang was it? If it was '03 & below, then you were racing a 160ish HP car trying to pull around 3,5000 lbs. Not much of a race car.gangstar946 wrote:ok..as some of you know i just bought a J bout a month ago. Bump shifting the J at WOT does not improve your speed/time. If anything, you run the risk of shifting too late and the car boucing off the rev limiter. That will slow you down.#1 Sailor Scout wrote:

BTW, I noticed that you put your tans in 1, then 2, & so on. You bump shift, too?? How does it affect the performance of the J?
How does it have more torque? 1st gear is 1st gear, 2nd gear is 2nd, it doesn't matter if the transmission selects it or you do.gangstar946 wrote:it was a 2006 mustang 4.0 v6....you must be referring to 03 models...which have the 3.8 lawn mower...lol..raced one with my truck when i worked for UPS. shifting manually gives you little more torque and since i disabled the traction control the car feels free @ WOT (try at your own risk!)
The transmission shifts at the same point weither you do it or it does it unless you hold it too long. How is that giving more power? Do you have proof other than a "feel"?gangstar946 wrote:well...its deff faster than in D....i shift close enough to the rev limiter to get that jump...the feel of a manual trans. go try it...I own a 97 J30 which has a completely different ECU than all other years. i know its not good...but when morons start talking trash...well you gotta stroke your J's ego and yours a little bit....you understand what i mean?..lol
I don't own a J (yet), just a Honda Civic. But I have raced V-6 Mustangs before, & trust me, it doesn't take much to keep up with them.gangstar946 wrote:well...the mustang wan an automatic. i just thought i share my experience thats all. Im not ruling over anybody on here...so i dont why others are...im assuming you all own a J. so go and see for yourself. thats it. its a full second quicker so that automatically means every mustang will put down the same numbers right.
