Hello everyone, I have a few questions about vlsd or open diff in my car. First off, I've read the how to tell if you have this or that with open or vlsd diff but I just want to be sure. With the the back wheels off the ground, car in neutral, and parking brake off, either wheel will spin "without" the other. With the car in gear, the wheels will spin opposite of each other. This to me means that I have an open differential. Secondly, I found a pretty much complete J30 in a local yard with the differential still on it. The door tag reads 09/94. Is this considered a 95 model? If so, would this just be a simple un-bolting of the the old and bolting up the new? Anyways, thank you for all the help guys.

yes its a 95. any car with the production date after july is the next year. if you have abs than is just a matter of swapping diff covers. if not than you may or may not need to have your driveshaft shortened or get a abs driveshaft.

Thanks a ton guys. I picked up the diff today and everything looks like it should bolt up fine. It will be so nice to get rid of the open diff.

Don't forget about taking care of those front bushings so your rear cover don't crack. You can get the kit from frsport for 90$ or you can quicksteel them and use some 1 7/8 fender washers.
