J30 trouble from 1st to 2nd gear

everything seems to be running well, other than the old cold "Buick like" start of my 93 J. When the transmission goes from 1st to second gear there is a kickback, almost like and very slow manual shift. Its not that uncomfortable, I just want to be sure that I am not ripping my transmission. Can anyone let me know the cause of this problem. It has not been for an oil change in a while, so thats the first thing I will be doing. I am thinking this in combination with my starting issues could be because of my fuel injectors? Any help or input you guys have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think 95% of us have that hard 1-2 shift until it warms up completely.

I kinda like it...lol...makes me miss the spyder.

lol. Thanks.. I just didn't want to blow my transmission.
