search on google for a nissan leopard J ferie x....if im not mistaken it came with a V8...#1 Sailor Scout wrote:I have a plan for when (& if) I get my J30. But I was chatting with my buddies one night & I said, "Do you think I could drop a Q45 engine in a J30?" I think it's a good idea; the V8 will really help it to move.
So what do you all think of that idea? A Q45 engine in a J30...
so i guess drop a VH41 in w/ a wiring harness, transmission, ecu, oh and whatever fabbing youll need to get it in there and function properly and your good...im assuming youll have to figure out how to get it to pass emissions after that but compared to what youre looking at thats merely a bump in the rocky path that you would be undertaking...yodawill2000 wrote:The 4.1 Liter
i wonder if the VK would fit???brandonjustice93J30 wrote:I think there's many posts with mentionings of V8 swaps. One time it was mentioned that the VH45 is the same block with a larger stroke, or something like that and would fit as well.
I came across this in making sure I was mentioning the correct engine(VH45 or VQ45)
also made me wonder if the VK45DE would fit...340HP/333ft-lbs with no mods

I still think the easiest and cheapest swap would be a KA or SR built and boosted to about 400 hp.ppastos wrote:The VK is over rated, early one leaked oil, hard to find, and the HP was over estimated. better off with a VH45DE.
stock aluminum block(VH45DE) wouldnt handle that much abuse from what ive seen thats been tried...mels95j30 wrote:i would love to put a VH in my j then through some nitrious on it easy 300hp prolly well over if you get it tuned
VH45DE wieghs roughly 600lbs lighter than VG30DEgr8scott72 wrote:

More power AND less weight!!!
And I would think a KA or SR would be considerably less than that too.kbflip02 wrote:stock aluminum block(VH45DE) wouldnt handle that much abuse from what ive seen thats been tried...

most definately you are right...however the only way to get a KA or SR that powerful is to boost....im curious to see what a VH would do w/o boost....i do want to supercharge it down the road but one step at a time right?lol...which if mr sailor over there doesnt end up buying your J i just might....if you have a spare moment could you take some pics of the undercarrige...also are the struts n shocks the originals???and is there any cosmetic damage if any to the car....gr8scott72 wrote:

There's no way the VH is 600 lbs lighter than the VG. That would make the VG weight over 1,100 lbs!kbflip02 wrote:stock aluminum block(VH45DE) wouldnt handle that much abuse from what ive seen thats been tried...

I think he mean's: The VH45DE weighs roughly 600lbs, A lighter than VG30DEkbflip02 wrote:stock aluminum block(VH45DE) wouldn't handle that much abuse from what ive seen that's been tried...

Well, then the VG IS lighter. It's under 400 lbs.ppastos wrote:

And I think The VH weighs more around 500 pounds, Wes said or my memory is off.
i couldve sworn that wes told me the VH was lighter due to the aluminum block and such but i could be mistaken...i emailed him just now to verify but im still waiting for a response...either way i still want that v8!gr8scott72 wrote:

i have a buddy on here NPEZ who is doing a twin turbo VH45DE in a z32...i am going to rebuild an early VH and thomas knight makes a custom centrifugal supercharger w/methanol injection for the VH...also instead of using the Js transmission im going to use a q45 transmission after its rebuilt by level ten to handle all the abuse...keeping the stock 3.91 rear end w/ custom driveshaft i think the J would be a rocket...its all pretty much worked out on paper and looks good....just have figure out the ecu tuning and get everything together so i can start...hopefully after christmas i can finally get started....Trooperguy90 wrote:ok, you should look at the q45 motor swap in a 240z that was done. someone did a twin turbo setup on a 4.5l motor and got over 1000 hp out of it. this swap was done in japan. also the easiest swap is a vg30dett, since it lines up. but i would be interested in the later q45 motor that has 340hp as well.
