Car: should be obvious enough

Post

alright guys, i got a supposed 94 federal J30 ECU off of ebay, and for several reasons, i think i have the wrong part.

does anyone with a J30 have pictures of the inside of their ECU? The one i have doesnt seem to have a 27C256 EPROM in it at all, and that was what i was expecting, since that is what z32's have.

also, there is a nissan sticker on the side: GG in bold, with A18-B65 K54 below and then 3914 stamped on the sticker.

can anyone with a J30 verify this sticker, or someone with nissan/infinity connections reference this part, so i can know what exact model this ECU is from?

My J30 is 130 miles away and i cant compare it to mine!

any help at all would be appreciated!

i can post pics later of what i have here, if that will help ID it.

if anyone ever reads this thread in the future ill post here what ive found:

all J30s utilizd a 16 bit ECU, and thus there is no need for the 28 pin 27C256 EPROM, or daughterboard.

Z32's switched from the 8 bit to the 16 bit in '94, and all ECUs became OBD2 compliant for 96.

good news is that an 8 bit ECU can work directly in a car that came with a 16 bit, and vice versa.

sort of stinks because now i have two 94 J30 ecus with which i cannot perform a BIN dump and compare to a Z32 set of maps, but i should have researched this detail prior to designing this EPROM reader/burner....oh well.
