Car: should be obvious enough

J30 is stock 15x6.5 with a 40 offset.

thinking about 17x8 with a 45 offset, what does everyone think?

as far as i figure, the clearance from the strut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 24mm LESS,

and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 14mm...

im hoping this way there wont be too much feathering on the outside edge from sticking out too far, and that the clearance on the inside will be ok...

comments/criticism/ suggestion....or just let me know what your size/offset is on your J30 and how its been working out for you...thanks guys.

dennis/ Q45tech / anyone, do you know what the limits are on clearance with the suspension?

beginning to think a 35 offset might be better, simply due to the increase in track width...

diamond_j30 has some pretty extensive knowledge of the various offsets/sizes that will fit the J.

If you go with the 8" rim, then I agree that 35 would probably be better - the wheel will sit further "out" from the hub. You are less likely to touch suspension components ...

yeah, its a trade off:

wider track and suspension clearance

vs.

less uneven wear and feathering of tires outer edge
