I noticed this morning when using my remote starter that the Q gave off a little puff of blue smoke for about a second when the engine first fired. Then it quickly turned to the usual white smoke. I know it is still cold up here in Buffalo but the amount of white smoke / steam seems excessive and I notice if I floor the throttle it seems to really push it out for a few seconds. When I am at a traffic light other cars seem to have clean exhausts but mine seems to always be pushing out white stuff

Maybe they are up to operating temperature and you are not? Not too many of those other cars are running 4.5L air pumps.

It is only a concern if it is oil or gasoline, not just water vapor. You can smell if there is a rich mixture or if oil is burning.

Allow me to clear up...

Here in IN (slightly warmer than where you are), when I do the first WOT of the day, even after 10 mins of driving there is a HUGE (no exaggeration) cloud of steam.. NORMAL!

ALso, when I first start the car, i get a big of blue smoke too... I have had someone start it so I can be in the back of the car, and Ive smelled it and its just running rich <at startup>..... Almost every decent sized V8 does this, that ive seen... Mine does it more excessively when its cold, you start the car for a few seconds, turn it off, then turn it on in a few minutes...

I think what your describing is COMPLETELY normal!

After so many years, there might be a little wear on the valve seals which is allowing a tiny bit of oil to leak into the cylinders overnight. This is normal and won't affect your car in the slightest. That's where the puff of bluish smoke is coming from most likely.

The vapor is normal, too. One of the J30 boys was saying that Nissan motors are designed to run richer than most others. "Avoid detonation at all costs" is how I remember it quoted. This will create extra vapor on cold days but after 30 minutes you probably aren't showing any more steam than any other car. I love the explosion of steam from the J at WOT. :D

And remember too that your engine has a much higher compression ratio than most others.
