I am a total Datsun noob and this sweet truck is for sale down the street but I and the owner (over 80) have no idea about the model/specs. HELP ME OUT!!! (I think its a 1979??)

so the guy selling it said that it runs rough and is missing smog parts and he has to tweek the cap/rotor/distributor whatnot to get it to smooth out. Does any of this jive? Should these smog parts be replaced or can I go with an aftermarket carb?
