There is a list of people trying to buy the InJen Intake in bulk and just wanted to make the comparison.

Eric will be able to tell you. He had the drop in prior to installing his Injen. I'm sure he'll chime in shortly

From my prior experience, an intake replacement such as the Injen is going to be better then a drop in filter anyway. Even though your using a more free flowing filter you still have the restrictions of the airbox itself.

In looking at the stock airbox, and from my memory of general physics from college, it looks like a major deficit in the stock airbox lies in the turbulent airflow caused by the box's design. It was my understanding that the cone shaped aftermarket intakes/filters help create a funnel for airflow , thus increasing air delivery to the engine. Or maybe I made that up, I can't remember!

there is a significant difference between the two. The K&N drop in will allow a bit more air flow and is a much better filter than the stock one and it can be cleaned with a cleaning kit so you don't have to purchase filters every so many miles. The injen will allow a much greater flow than even the drop in K&N. If you look at some of the pics of the injen on other threads you can tell how much greater the diameter of the injen is compared to your stock air box plastic tubing coming off your radiator that is very narrow and heavily restricts the air going to your throttle body. if you can't afford the injen though i would recommend going for the k&N filter. i've used them on almost all of my cars and have gained gas mileage and even a little bit of throttle response.

I have the K&N drop-in filter. If you don't want the excess noise caused by the Injen, get the drop-in.

the excess noise your motor will make from the injen is something everybody should want. very subtle until you reach high rpm's. after 3800 to 4000 your car will sound like the savage beast is really is,

or can be.

Excess noise?! loooL! No noise, except if you want noise, meaning going at more than 4000rmps. And even then the noise isn't excessive. Its beautiful FTW!

you guys forget, shift has the 4 banger. Anything you do to that engine will make it louder. Even when accelerating with the stock setup, you can hear the engine working very hard to get out those horses. An intake on the V4 will not sound like an intake on the VQ, ity will be louder, and not in a good way!

in the sake of argument, i've installed and listened to noise changes on many 4 cyl. cars and from my experience the after market intakes on 4 cyl motors are far less noise changing than v6's.if you put a after market intake on a v8 you're going to here even a bigger difference as the volume of air intake is much greater. nothing factual here, just from my experiences i believe it's more a matter of how much the air flow changes from stock to aftermarket than how many pistons you have.

Actually, the QR25 of the Altima is much louder than the VQ35. Take the two for a test drive and you'll hear for yourself. The 4 cylinder has to push harder than the smooth linear power of the VQ motor.

As far as the drop-in is concerned, the guys pretty much summed it up. I had the K&N when no intakes were available, and once the Injen came out, I scooped one up. With the drop-in, I did notice a slight increase in throttle repsonse, and the noise level slightly increased--in a good way--when I accelerated hard.

If money is tight and you do want a little more kick, the K&N is a good way to go. It'll save you money in the long run because it'll last the life of your car and thensome. You'll never need to buy air filters again. New they go for around $45 +/- a few. If you have the VQ35 and want one, let me know because I still have mine just sitting in the garage. I've been too busy to actively try to sell the thing, but if you want it, it's yours for $25 shipped in the US. I only used it for a month and I believe it only has 1100 or 1200 miles on it.
