when i'm cruising to a stop sign, i usually just push the clutch in and shift to neutral. my question is that when i shift into neutral, the RPMs drop really really low...like 400-500 as opposed to its usual 600-800. After the car has stopped the rpms will rise back up. Am I driving wrong? or is there something wrong with the car?

you're not driving wrong. do your rpms waver while you idle? i would suggest searching the tech forum and the Nissan Online Mechanic forum for something to the effect of 'rough idle'. that's what I did and there's alot of good information out there.

let's see if i can summarize.

clean throttle body with carb cleanercheck iac valvecheck egr valvemake sure you're vaccum lines aren't leaking or overly soft

there're a couple other things you can check but these seem to be the biggest ones mentioned.

good luck,cliff

Brakes rely on vacuum from the motor ... the idle simply lowers itself when you apply brake pressure because of the pull on the motor. Its a normal thing.
