We're thinking of buying a second G35/37X this spring. We each have a fob for the current car. Can we use our existing fobs for both cars, or will we need to carry two fobs each?

I haven't been able to locate an answer on the web or the forums.

Thanks.

you'll need two fobs each, otherwise I could walk up to your car with my fob and drive off

I think they are coded for each car...you wouldn't want someone else to be able to use their fob on your car, right!

The fobs themselves are low tech...will only work with one vehicle at a time.

Thanks. I should have been a little more specific. I was hoping both cars could be coded to one fob for each of us. Sounds like they can't. Maybe that will be an available option in a few years.

The good thing is the fobs just need to be on your person. I have another vehicle with keyless start and I just leave my keyring at home and take the fob for whatever car I plan to drive.

I dont see why you could not do this, BUT if the battery dies and you do not have the correct key by chance then the key will not unlock the car manually. If this is no prob then i dont see why the dealer could not take two of your cars and program the keys to the car, but each car can only hold 3 keys if memory recalls correctly. You can still keep the unlock stuff the same. The other problem is if you ever get rid of one of the cars you would have to reprogram one car or if you lost a key reprogram both cars.
