is there a mod where you can turn on the Fogs lights and not have to turn on the headlights?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm...I'm sure there is but I'm not finding detailed instructions. It's on my "to do " list but I've not done the research.

Have heard of aftermarket harness add-in that allows it, but no way to do it when stock that I know of.

There was a guy that used to make modules for doing little electrical things like this. KP Technologies I think is what he called himself.

It doesn't seem like it would be too difficult. Just need to know the schematics. It really all depends on how its wired though, and I haven't given any time to the wiring of the headlights.

Can always wire them to a relay and let the parking light be the trigger.....Won't be able to turn them off tho.

One can use any wire that's powered when the ignition is on to achieve the same result. I tapped into the ODB-II data port power wire using a T-tap on my Pathfinder to do this mod.

based on how it functions, you would have to bypass the main headlights' wiring as i bet they are both powered by the same wires, just that the fogs have a seperate switch/relay on them. Check out the FSM for your car... all you have to do is "jump" the fog light power wire to an "always on" source like the ignition wire or "memory wire". Make sure you Jump the wire "behind" the switch/relay of the fog lights else they would be on when ever the car is on LOL (some might want that...)

you can do this without cutting any wires with the use of a wire tap.

edit:

oh one potential side effect i noticed when i rewired my sidemarkers to blink with the front turn signals...

the Auto-dimming feature of the HeadUnit/nav/radio could be effected... like when your fogs lights are on the HeadUnit/nav/radio might think the headlights are ON and Auto-dim the Screens in the car. I personally havent looked into this much as i just turned the auto-dimming feature off as a work around til i get time to figure out how to stop that behavior.

I used a module from KP Technologies and turned my fogs into DRLs. Klossfam posted the DIY on another forum. The fogs are on when the car is running. When headlights are on, they go off unless turned on with the fog switch.
