Is 1200 a good deal?

I am looking at a Z31 five speed , 200,000 miles. Anyways he wants 1200 for it. Body is in decent shape. rust above the wheels and the paint is fading. I really just care is the engine is in good shape. Im not too familiar with how long the engines last, but ive seen the VG30 go past 300K.

its a decent deal if its running good. I would try to talk him down to 1000 or less. if the z has 200,000 original miles with out ever being rebuilt in anyway things might need reconditioning depending on how well the car was maintained. They can easily go to 300k but there are alot of variables involved. If it has visible rust on the outside it's very likely there is rust underneath. check under the engine, the frame rails, and under the hatch extensively. for maybe 800-1000 more dollars you could find one with decent paint, less miles, overall better condition. i bought a z31 a few weeks ago for 1800..15,000on rebuild 130,000 on chassis excellent paint no rust at all. interior is kinda bad and needs a muffler but just make sure u take the time to look and get a good car unless u want a project.

Def check around seals, sills and hatch for rust. Then offer 800 and see what happens
