I was going to make a new thread about my iPod ecp, then this thread popped up so I suppose I'll put it here.
Honestly, Infiniti choosing a CF slot for the 08 EX35 is a huge fail. I love the car, but some of Infiniti’s choice are puzzling.
I’m an Android user, I wanted a 2010 so I could have BT audio streaming. My 08 was too good of a deal to pass, so now I’m looking for work arounds. My gf had an old iPod laying around, and my car has all the cables so I decided to give it a shot. Fought with iTunes, got my library on the iPod and it works in my car. The problem I’m running into is when I turn the car on, often is says no iPod detected, then after a moment, it connects. The frustration is it then just sits at the initial screen, doesn’t remember what playlist/song I was listening to, so I have to start all over. A lot of my listening is to A State of Trance, a 2 hr podcast I rip from YouTube. The behavior by the iPod has made it un-listenable because it doesn’t remember where I left off.
Is there a way to avoid this? I’ve tried to see if having it off for longer or shorter periods affects it, but it seems to be random. I anticipate that the iPod Video should have an auto shut off. I thought maybe it was just staying on and killing the battery. So I tried shutting it off manually so the battery would be fine. Next time I started it, it didn’t detect it for 5-10 seconds and then just displayed the main menu.
Alternatively, I’ve been looking for a Bluetooth dongle, not ideal but hoping it will do what I want. I came across the Kinivo BTC450 which has good reviews. Their CS team said I can have the phone BT routed through the car, and audio through the dongle and solve my problem. Just waiting to hear back to find out if my phone can be connected to 3 devices at once, including my smart watch.
If someone could shed some light on the iPod issue though, that would make life easy.
Thanks!
