just bought the car and I may not be able to keep it although I love it and it runs and shifts great 99k looks well maintained, but I don't want to drive it or sell it untill I figure out if I can fix whatever is sending the message

I don't have the service manual yet

Could someone possibly explain how to put the TCU in to test mode

I read something about a bad turbine sensor being someones cause for this complaint, but there was no detail where do I start?

TIA

If the message occurs at full throttle, it may be a JWT modified TCU.

When I received this error, it was never because of an actual transmission malfunction. Don't you love computers?

It occurred once when my FPCU was going out and a couple times again when my MAF was going out. Each time the error came up, the car was stalling or about to stall.

Of course, you could have a genuine transmission problem. I do not know what actually triggers the error message.

The only things that trigged the TM light are things like the TPS failing, shift soleniods failing, and other sensors and electrical components... Theres also a few things that it throws a code for to tell you if the battery has been unplugged or something (not sure why)..

Anyway, heres how to check your codes.....

with the key initially off, hold the reset of the twin trip meters counter clockwise (try both ways, i cant remember which one does it)... you should get AT check (if it doesnt do it counterclockwise, try the other way)..... You turn the key on while holding that to one direction or the other. Also, before you do this shift the car into drive and put on the parking brake...

once you have the AT check, shift to 3, fully depress and release the gas, then to 2, then to 1, and fully depress and release the gas. Then give it a couple of minutes and it will tell you the codes on the readout.....

post up what code you have and we can look it up for you.

wow thanks for all the quick replies all check it out toight

Thanks again

...OK I haven't tried the diag procedure yet, but it is official I am keeping the car

I was driving it all day today, And I fell in love

The transmission acted up a little once or twise, but it seemed electronic

Once holding on to 1st for an extra couple seconds and another time hesitating as if it didn't know which gear it wanted

when I shut off traction control and laid into it it shifted flawlessly and even did a nice chirp off the line

Even it ended up needing a transmission I would gladly do it this car is such a pleasant change from my moded 240sx

I am a bmw tech so I brought it into the shop and it looks as if it has been well maintained new water pump..nissan battery..nissan brake pads

engine bay as clean as new

On the way

17x9s front +25

18 x9s rear +38 (Hopefully)
