Intermittent Power Loss

Twice now I have had my '85 300zx lose power. Both times it will be driving fine, then when I stop at a stop light or for whatever and start to go, it will not go. The engine very, very sluggishly revs up in gear. I can get it to rev up better in neutral, but it's still not perfect. And it will go a maximum of maybe 40 miles per hour after sometime of playing around with the gears, and maybe will climb up to 2700 RPMs.

The first time it did it I parked it over night and it was fine the next day, the second time it did it for about 15 minutes and then was fine. Any ideas where to start looking?
