cars running, but only intermitently. sometimes the car will not start, then i'll check the ECU and the 2 lights on the back will be dim and blinking in no particular order. then if i take off the connector and just play around with the wires and plug it back in, all is good afterwards, the lights are bright and strong and the car will start right up. bad ground somewhere? or bad connection?

I would say that you didnt screw the connector tightly .. but i doubt it.. My car was giving me the same problem but it was because of that ..

maybe you have a *connection* in the plug that is lose

First place to start is all of the grounds. Make sure the ECU plug bolt is good and tight, as that can cause all sorts of problems. If that still doesn't cure it, you may have to wait till it craps out again, and then start testing continuity on all of the wires.

Definitely sounds like a bad ground, get wire and ground the ecu and see if it improves. get a ohm meter and ohm out all your ecu ground directly to the negative terminal on the battery (you might need to extend the black wire), this way you will isolate any false or week grounds that you might have around the ecu area.

Good luck,

it happened again, so i checked the ground on the far right bottom pin (60 i think) it had 119 ohms of resistance i tried to ground it, and it didn't help. i think i need to do them all. i'll have to check my FSM to track all the grounds. the plug is nice and snug, but its still the only fix i have if it happens. unplug and replug and it works again.

what can i ground on the ECU to ground it? any certain pin?
