When I hit they keyless remote and the interior lights come on full strenght. But as soon as I open the door the lights dim quite a bit. I noticed the other day the light was out. But when I shut the door and opened it, it came on. Any ideas? Anyone seen this one?

you may have a ground issue in your door pin switch. try this with another door and see if it does the same thing if not its likely bad contacts in that switch.

Does it on both front doors. I noticed the light in the rear comes on when I open the doors. Maybe it is a load condition on the battery, but the front light goes dim and it is not as bright as the rear light. Just strange is all, that the light would not work, maybe a short somewhere in the circuit. Tracing down electrical is no fun at all. Could be a pinched wire somewhere.

pop the cover off the light were the bulb is. diagnally there should be 2 silver screws. give both the screw a quarter turn tighter and see if that resolves the problem. the cicuit uses 2 different grounds to turn the lights on. one is in the light and one is through the entrance control unit.

Your all over it. If I turn the switch on the light to ON, then it gets back to being as bright as without the door open. Those screws are as tight as they can be though. Maybe the ground on the door switch?

actually the ground on the door switch goes to the entrance control unit to indicate the door is open. The entrance control module grounds the light. Even if it was directly through the door you already said more then one door had the same effect. Doubt the ground would be bad in more then one door if that were how the system worked. Do you have a service manual on your car? If you do look at the wiring diag for the dome lamp system and see if you can locate the grounds for that circuit. If you find them go to them ,loosen and resecure them and recheck the system.

No service manual here...oh well. Not a big deal.

Got testy with the light, gave it a nice lil tap and it worked. Must be the screw had some corosion or something like that.
