is the VG30DE an interference engine?

yes, all of the VG engines are. make sure that timing belt gets changed every 50-60k miles

50-60K miles? I believe the factory interval is 105K.

Given the cost of replacing them (for those who don't do it themselves, which is the majority) that's kind of expensive advice.

lol its aight snow, im still workin on getting one right now =\

my dad has been tryin really hard to lean me away from a sports car in general since ill be attending Wyotech in Wyoming, and they usually only hav 3 months of summer there, but i have NOT lost hope!!!!

I just looked in the FSM. it says to replace the timing belt every 60,000 miles.a timing belt is cheaper replacement than a whole motor.

I thought the majority of z31 owners worked on the cars themselves. I cant imagine the cost of a dealer doing the timing belt service. It took me a weekend of working on it about 4 hours a day to do it the first time. I'm sure I could do it in under 2 hour the next time. to each their own i guess.
