I posted this on the G50 Worldwide user group on Facebook as well. Anyways, has anyone bought a Jim Wolf TCU for their G50? I had been wanting to get one for years. I talked with the sales guy there a couple of weeks ago about one for my ‘90 Q45 and he said that they can do it but it will take a couple of weeks for the tech to work on it. I said oh so the turn around will be two weeks? He said no. It will be starting from the time he receives the core to completion. I asked him why 2 weeks and was told that it takes him a while to program and solder the unit once received. I wasn’t sure on that one. When I asked if I could talk or email the tech that would be doing the work if I have questions I was told that I would have to talk or email him (the sales guy) and he would serve as the middle man. He said also that they have two versions. The 1st one is just 1 mode all the time and the other is 3 modes. 1st mode is stock which would include 2nd gear start if you have the earlier model. The 2nd mode would allow for sportier shifts that will allow for downshifts with less throttle travel. The 3rd mode will allow for you to select any gear you want and it will hold that position. The 1st unit is around $400 and the 3 mode is around $500 or more I think.
Let me know your thoughts and if you have ever had one or know someone who did and what the experience was like.
