We started off with 90 degree bends and straight sections of 2.5inch pipe. I did all the work myself at the shop and have been tig welding for sometime. All the powedercoating was done in house. I will post more pics ASAP.

I have been thinking about doing my own piping but I only have an electric stick welder and I've never used it before. If I practice enough do you think that would be enough to do the trick?I wish I had a TIG and training... :-(

Mig and Tig are easier then ARC(stick), but ARC weolding will work just fine for building IC piping or even ur own manifolds. It just depends on the sticks and current settings. But the guys at the local supply shop can help with those choices.

I'm using Mig on all my stuff, mostly cause I have a Mig welder already...heh.

TS240, lookin good bro. Should be an animal...

Stupid welding question: would an oxy-acetylene rig be capable of welding piping together like that albeit not as prettily?

Do you mean the mthod where you hold a stick and melt it with the torch, I believe its called soldering, different from electical I know. I suppose that method would work for IC piping, but not for a manifold. The thing with ARC, Tig and Mig is that they add a type of metal as well as melt and bond the surface actually being welded, if that makes sense. The soldering method will just bond things together. But I've used JB weld before on things, so I'm pretty sure your method would work. Its easy enough to find out if you have all the stuff already. Just grab some old piping and give it a shot.

Well yes Oxy will melt the metal, what I mean is that with the other types they become fused together.

It'd be just frieking awesome if we had someone that could make custom length downpipes for a good price (100ish) on the forum :)

TopStreet, very nice set-up and wield job. Looks just like mine will in a few months. But the thing that I Noticed the most was your second picture.....your front bumper support has NASTY rust on it. JUST LIKE MINE! Sorry I just found that funny that both of ours are rust nasty.

Amen to that. That's why I stuck like glue to both my mechanic during the rebuild and the muffler guy during the turbo install. And I'm pretty happy with the results... although I did program the SBC wrong and boosted 13PSI on stock fuel system, luckily for me nothing happened.

Boost on.
