I got quoted $108/month, which is slightly higher than my 2003 Honda Accord, but then again its a new car (depreciation coverage, etc)

went and got a quote on an '08 Rogue and '08 Mazda 3. The Rogue was only $100 more for the year which was a pleasant surprise

My new rogue was only $90 more per year in comparison to my old 2000 Plymoth Breeze.

my quote is from a provincial insurance provider that we have to get our basic Insurance from. Optional coverage doesn't have to be, and is usually worth saving a few hundred.

my quote was for both basic and optional coverage, and maximum discounts applied.

the bad side to this is we'll never get really, super low rates, but we'll never get blatantly ripped off like many people do with Private insurers in the States.

Our carrier is State Farm. Initially, insurance for our Rogue was about $10/month more than our '03 Elantra. Since the Rogue wasn't on State Farm's official list, they guessed and classified it as a crossover (I told them it should be in the same group as a Rav4 and a CR-V). A couple weeks later, they reclassified it as a "Sports Wagon" and the rate increased about $3/month, to about $68/month. Made me wonder exactly what the difference is ...

This is the problem with any brand brand new car to the market, it takes some time to develop statistical data regarding the new car. I have all state upgraded some stuff when I added the rogue, wasn't a huge difference but I replaced an 98 4runner with the rogue, so there's going to be a difference. I would make sure you tell them about the airbags and the side impact ones as well, that should give you a few bucks off.
