I would like to install a cutoff switch on my fuel pump. I have a switch with a Key. Which wire do i attach it to? Is it better to put it on the ignition? I heard a lot of 300zx owners put one on the fuel not the ignition.

are you just wanting a ghetto security system? if so there are a number of wires easier to interupt that'll be easier to get to than the fuel pump signal wire, but honestly I'd skip it and buy an alarm if you're that worried about the car, the stock system has starter disable

i just want to know if ignition or fuel pump is better, and then how to hook it up. I don't have money for an alarm system and my friend had a 240sx with an alarm, the thieves bypassed the alarm by breaking the window and tried starting the car. The only thing that stopped them was a fuel cut off switch. They stole everything else but the car. That's why I would like to install one. a cheap ebay alarm won't help me (that all i have money for).

Next time you post, how about making the totle of the post more decreiptive?

Installation Advice - Fuel Cutoff Switch

That way when someone scans the forum, it will be much easier, and you will probably get more qualified responses.

That said, if you do want to go down that road, the easiest way to do it would be to start by tracing the wires on the fuel pump. One is a power wire, one is a ground, and the other only has power when you turn the key on. The last one is the one I would consider interrupting. Trace it back to the under side of the dash, and it should be an easy install.

Noted. I will think of better titles.

Do the wires have colors that you could tell me or would i just have to guess?
