I keep hearing that the Rogue brake pads don't last past 20,000 miles. I only have 15 grand on my 2023 Rogue Platinum so I'm looking for opinions from others on how long their brake pads lasted before replacing.

DIYer here so is there anything unusual to the replacement process? I have always been of the opinion that when pads are replaced go ahead and do the rotors as well, but with such a short life span I see no need in rotor replacement, short of waiting to long on the pads and scoring the disk.

On my 2018 Rogue SV with a 50/50 mix of local and highway, I changed the pads and rotors at 27K. That was after 3 Buffalo winters. Pad thickness was still good. The rear rotors were starting to rust into the pad braking surface. On my 2023 Rogue SV, the rotors/pads were perfectly fine at 21K when I traded it in for a 2025. That was after 2 winters.

IMHO prophylactic pad replacement has always struck me a bit silly. Wear is affected so much by individual driving habits that there's little point in "assuming" a particular model has 20K mile brakes (and besides, a pad gauge set costs $11 on eBay). For the record, we always cut (or replace if necessary) front rotors, but the rears have comparatively little meat. We replace them if there's runout, but we never cut. If there's no meaningful runout then we leave them alone.

That said, the biggest cause of fast wear we see on late models (all Nissans, not just T33's) is frequent use of ICC or ProPilot. The latest systems are all proportioned to engage the rears a bit before the fronts to prevent nosedive, but in practice, because ICC isn't designed to coast instead of actively braking, it has the effect of causing ICC to "ride" the rears when it brakes gently and wears the rear pads out in a hurry. There's no real fix for that, if you spend a lot of miles on ICC then be prepared to replace rear pads frequently.

Echoing the above sentiments that it ultimately depends on the driver's habits and mix of city/hwy driving. My 2017 has around 72000 miles and still on its original pads. I check them when I swap my tires twice a year, and it should still be good maybe another year before I replace the pads.

'21 Platinum AWD, 53K miles, original rotors and pads. Which is a welcome surprise, since by 40K both of my 1st Gen and both of 2nd Gen had gone through a pads change, and one each 1st and 2nd Gen were at a recommended rotor change (but would always trade them in before having to actually replace the rotors). Strangely, it was always the rear driver-side rotor that would wear out first.

I had 2 2nd gens, both had varying levels of pad life. My current Rogue, pads were replaced around 28k miles. On my previous one, fronts lasted me 58k and rears at 73k.

I was surprised my MDX pads lasted till 91k miles (a vehicle that is heavier than a Rogue).

I can;t speak for the newer Gen Rogues, but our 2015 went nearly 100,000 miles before I changed the pads & rotors. Pad life will totally depend on driving habits/conditions.

All good responses to my questions, thanks for that. I guess the adage of periodic checks is all that is needed for this.
