Hi All,

I am looking to do a installation of subwoofers into my 2000 Infiniti I30.I won't be removing the stock speakers or the head-unit but want to add subwoofers.

I was told the best way to do this is to use Line-out converters.

BUT my dilemma lies in, what speaker wires to tap for this. I was thinking either tapping the older subwoofer wires, or the rear door speakers. But then what kind of frequencies will it be able to have?

Wouldn't the subwoofer only have the frequencies the OEM woofer could take and not any freq? Wouldn't the rear door speaker be opposite with all the higher ones that the sub didn't take?

I did try to look anywhere to find the frequencies that the speakers acheive and what the amplifier gives out but I got no where.

Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

Thanks!

You can look at a product like the PAC AOEM-NIS2 which will give you RCA outputs.

Thanks for the reply,

Since that splits off before the amplifier, will it not be crossed over and therefore give me all frequencies, which is what I am aiming for?

You will have the full range of frequencies that the headunit pushes out.

Just realize that the factory HU has some crappy equalization curves as you start turning up the volume which reduce low-frequency output. The only way around it is to replace the HU.

I have not noticed the equalization under use before. That could be a problem.

Now my dad says I may not inherit this car, so we will see what happens. When I've confirmed I'm getting the car I will be back with more questions!

If I were to replace the headunit, is there any dash kits and the like available for a I30 ?

I also understand I would have to replace the Bose amp and rewire almost everything true?

how much watts do the stock speakers take each?

Metra has a dash kit for it.

Stock speakers are around 2ohm or less (except for the factory tweeter). If you are going to replace the HU without an amp, then you will lose 1/2 the volume. Not sure what the rated specs are.

You can replace the HU and keep the rest of the setup by using a PAC ROEM-NIS2

I need a little help myself. I've got an 02 i35 (just purchased). And I've looked all over the internet for a pre-made fiberglass subenclosure. I want to keep the factory bose and just add a single 10 or 12 in the taillight corner. Does anyone know a manufacturer that makes this? I don't want to go to my local audio shop and get raped
