Well i wanted to know what the sound would be. I bought the block (tt block) for 162 it ran & drove guy just told me it had a ticking sound. I heard it might be something with the valves or a rod knock. Should i just get my crank fixed or get my heads fixed ???

you bought jsut a bare block? a block that ticked? huhhhh? or you bought a complete motor that has a tick? you bought a block that was part of a complete motor tthat had a tick?

a tick is generally top end ..headsa knock is generally low end....rods

milage of the motor?

put it on a stand drain all teh oil out let it completely drain for a day or 2 then flip it upsidedown and take off teh oil pan and check all teh rodcaps....

60k+ miles long Block with turbos & clutch i believe water pump thermostat. I just want to know what should I replace cause I was going to do a rebuild anyway I just don't want to spend money on something that doesn't need to be fixed.

well if youre doing a rebuild the right way the problem will be fixed cause you will be measuring out the lower end and getting new bearings with proper clearances and youd be taking the heads to a machine shop to get them cleaned and checked.... either way a proper rebuild fixes the problem

these motors usually make small tickings from the injectors and coil packs....but if you heard it going down the road...its probably lifters....mine was making that noise and i found a dead injector and two that were going bad... replaced them and guess what...it purrrrsss like a box of kittens...happy kittens i might add...that just got a bowl of milk and a nice rub behind the ears.

Try running ATF in it for 20-50 miles then drain it and replace the oil. ATF is extremly high in detergent and will free up any sticky lifters
