I did pick up a 97 KA24DE motor for 300 bucks so im going to pull it apart and have machine shop balance it with ross pistons. everything else stock. it will be a 1 bar motor.

are you worried about the stock rods?I'm rebuilding a 94 pretty much the same way (ross pistons and nothin else, maybe total seal rings if I can spring the $).

Na im not worried about the stock rods but I may get ARP nuts for them. I am going to play around with Hydrogen and freeze them along with the pistons. You can get Altima rings from the year 99 for 70 dollars they are better than any other ring you can buy for a KAT. Im going to spend most of my money on "machine work" and if it all blows up ill just go back to NA.

Nissan shot peen’s them new. I think they are ok as long as you don’t rev past 6500 and keep boost under 16 psi. They are kind of thin up top and that’s where they can break or at the bottom where the studs go in. for the most part keeping detonation away and having a well balanced motor will make this work. I only want 14 psi but I will probably push it as I increase the fuel. But remember I have another motor just in case.;)

I’m mostly afraid if the studs them selves not the rods.

Well thats nice to know, Im starting to want to get some of the Ross pistons on ka24de.com myself, its a good price for everything that comes with it. Knowing the pistons are the weak link in the KA, it would really give some peace of mind at the very least. Quick question though, is 8.5:1 compression a lil too low or just right? Im not looking for HUGE boost, the max I would ever got is 1bar, but more around the 8-12psi range.

i think the 8.5.1 compression is a thing of the 80's. We have very good tuning computers these days. I am going to use 9.1

I also think that 14psi with fully built internals is a waste! Talk to TY and dennis.......
