Yeah I wish I could get rid of the plate. Some cars like Corvette's, etc. seem to get away with it but I've been stopped for it once on an older car. One of the dumb laws this state has.

Got school to pay for (graduating in May) and got hit with a 5 figure IRS bill due to me making a mistake on some work forms, lol.

Catching up on my build thread.

On 1/17/16 I installed an EZ Lip on my front bumper which is similar to the "home depot lip" mod people used to do back in the day on their Maxima's, etc.

That lip mod looks very nice, almost like factory. Did you get the material from ebay?

great car! I just ordered the Stillen Cat-Back yesterday for my M56x, can't wait for it to get here. My next step will be window tint. I bought her a week ago, 2011 with 32K miles. Bought it from a dealer in Maryland, got it home and the paint on driver side had an awful touch up job so I raised hell and dealer sending me a check for $2K of which I'm getting her painted (dropping off tomorrow) for $2700 (like five panels, I'm nervous as a cat).

So, my mods look like this:

1) Day 1 - K&N Air Filters
2) Day 8 - New paint job drop-off tomorrow
3) Stillen Cat-Back Exhaust ordered and on the way
4) Window tint when she's back from detailer

I'm still riding on the factory 18's but I'd love to go after the following:

1) Rims and new shoes (not sure I'll go 20's, but maybe, yours look sweet) likely at next tire change, dang tires are new so I've got some time.
2) Performance brakes

TBD from there...btw, my car is silver with black interior, once she's back i'll post pix and vid with the new Stillen exhaust.

Later!

One of my halogen fog light bulbs failed so I decided to upgrade to 40w LED bulbs for the fogs.

Got them from iJDMToy. There was an issue with one (lock ring on the bulb base was moving instead of being stationary/part of the base). They refunded me a partial amount and I ended up superglueing the ring to the base to make it stop spinning.

Here are some pictures (pic 2 is halogen/before, pic 3 is LED/after):

Awesome. Now if you smarter electrical wiring individuals could just figure out how to have just the foglights come on... I would be upgrading my lights immediately

I think people on the Y50 section tried this with a KP Technologies module, but otherwise it was tough to do because of how the Infiniti IPDM module/system works. Everything is tied in together.

Welp, one of these failed after 3 weeks and after some experimentation with Morimoto XB LED Fogs (sealed unit), I have decided to go back to the PIAA fog light bulbs I had before which lasted about a year and a 3 months.

Ilya - I had the same issue with one of my IJDMtoy LED lights - the base of one of my lights would just spin around. I superglued mine as well and stuck it in there. So far it's been doing fine, BUT it's only been on for a little over 2 weeks... :ohno: I love how they look, but I'm afraid that it's life is limited - I'm dreading having to pull off the wheel, etc. when I've got to change it. The countdown continues :frown:

I found mine completely out of the fog light...like the base vibrated itself loose and then fell out. Then, I went through a car wash around the same timeframe and the water killed it (when you first drive in it sprays the underbody and wheels with water). That's my guess on what happened. I was shocked to see it fall out of the wheel well when I took the liner out.

I'm still partial to having 3000k fogs but I can appreciate the aesthetics of having the fogs color match the other lights.
I have read articles that claim 3000k is the most effective at cutting through fog, but those articles always lack sufficient data to convince me so I'm not sure it's true. In South Florida there is no such thing as actual fog like I see back home, but fogs seem to help me see road markings in heavy rain. Otherwise, my fogs are never switched on. I have my Phillips LED DRLs that are always on so I already have an extra set of lights day or night when driving.

If the lights were actually aimable, I'd love them. They legit lit up the road more than my yellow ones. The stock fog light assemblies are virtually useless IMO.

Purchased a set of HPS Intake Hoses/Tubes from EBay as this is the first aftermarket intake related product for the V8. They claim a gain of 9HP and the bytt dyno feels good, but not sure it's 9HP good. I'm planning to get dyno'ed with my stock stuff and this stuff to see if it's really 9HP.

As some of you know, someone backed into my car a couple of weeks ago. So I had to get it fixed.

Got the car back last night. It's not peeeerrrrffect, but it's pretty damn close. Hard to match a paint that has been getting sunbaked for 6 years. I thought it came out pretty well. Guy still needs to buff the car and wax it and told me to come back after winter is done to do that...I needed the car this AM for my alignment appointment at the dealer ($143!!!!) so he had to get it out to me sooner than he'd have liked.

Things done:
  • Painted entire front bumper, he even fixed the cover the tow hook or whatever as that was slightly dented from other rock chips
  • Painted entire rear bumper, I'm finally rid of the black soot that was caked on from all this horsepower :rotflmao
  • Painted the fronts of both front fenders as I had a rock chip causing a tiny spec of rust on both sides, in the same spot lol...wanted to get ahead of it before it really started to rust
  • Sanded, buffed and re-cleared my headlights
  • Installed the midnight grille for me, man that thing looks WAY better than the OEM chrome one
Told me I could come back in the spring for a buff and wax and he has paint left over so he'll fix up some more chips on my hood.

I've been looking at those black grills too. They look a lot cleaner especially on the black cars.

Seriously?!?! Places I've looked they're a couple hundred. Fitment and quality was good? How tough to install?

It was sold to me by an Infiniti dealer on clearance, so it's OEM. I didn't install it so not sure of install.

Just picked up one of those grilles too off ebay. Can't beat that price! I'm tempted to swap for the Aero bumper cover since my front is badly scratched and scuffed.
