Apologies if I am being slow as molasses this morning.. But.
I cannot get my ignition timing set. I know it supposed to be at 15 degrees. I know you adjust it by turning the CAS. I cannot get it to 15 with the CAS retarded ALL THE WAY, and it feels like the timing is retarded when I drive it. I remember in my RB20 I had to disconnect the AAC and IAC and ground a wire before I set base ignition timing.. Is there a similar process here?

Are the chains off a tooth? Sorry if this is a bit of a dumb question, but it happens occasionally with timing belts I believe. If the timing guides are broken, the slack or fod could have caused it to jump a tooth, maybe

why are you retarding the cas?
how are you picking up the signal for the light?

I was trying to set base timing to 15 deg BTDC. The cas is back close to the middle. I am picking the signal up from the brown w/ yellow stripe wire beside the ignitor as per the write up on q45.org

uh thats a power wire...not a coil pickup.
pull number one coil out, put a lead on it and check that way.

yeah dont do that, there should actually be a loop taped up on bank one's coil harness, this is the trigger for cyl 1...you can put the light on that.
