My 93 Maxima SE has a recently replaced cap, rotor, wires, plugs, etc (within 10k miles). Last night i heard a rattling sound from under the cap. I removed the cap and noticed that the rotor could be shifted back and forth (twisting) a bit and would make a "clicking" sound.....this is obviously where the rattling sound is coming from. I will pull the rotor tonight and make sure the dizzy shaft is not the culprit of the play in the rotor, but I am certain it is the rotor itself. has anyone ever had this and any possible solution? There were no obvious signs of damage or even wear to the rotor, but i guess anything is possible. I made sure the set screw was tight but didn't get much further as i am working outside and the midwest is starting to get damn cold!!!!

I removed the rotor to inspect the distributor and found that the ring the rotor attaches to (with the pilot screw hole for rotor) is the culprit of the "rattling/clicking" sound. Is this something that can be corrected or do i need to drop $150 on a new distributor?
