For all of you people that read car magizines wether it be Turbo, SCC, GRM, Super Street, Import Tuner etc., what are some articals or features that you would like to see, and what are some that you are just plain sick of reading about?

Thanks in advance

I would like to see a RB swap done, it will change alot of things for the 240, and might even make some people mad. but its something that i think needs to be openly know in the 240 comunity. I mean if i would have know that i problably could have swaped in a RB25det into my car, instead of rebuilding my engine. Also more tech articals about setting up a trubo on a KA. All we have seen are some bolt ons, breaks, suspention, and SR swap. maybe something on a 89-90, as we always get left out on just about everything.

definitly more how-to's.......installing stuff is the best part and i agree for the 240 ;) besides that more dynos and teaching stuff about the general ideas behind cars. like setups for turbos or about the trannie. stuff like that...... go super street!

More: Tech articles, DIY / installs, tuning tips, anything to do with 240's.Less: Models (if i want girls, ill buy playboy), advertisements (i know they gotta pa y the bills, but come on...), video game / music review (who cares, if i want music ill buy rolling stone), and for gods sake, be more selective about the cars they put in the various "readers rides" sections !The last couple issues of Turbo magazine have been great, almost nothing but tech articles. I read car mags for car stuff, i could give a rats arse about the "lifestyle". Thats just my opinion, i could be wrong.

when you say RB swap your refuring to the skyline engine right? just making sure were on the same page

i can understand how it would make people mad, its like people on rx7club asking about v8 swaps.. never goes well but it should be explained so anyone can make a choice. Turbo'ing a ka24 is actualy on my list, it seems like a common enough engine, might as well explore and list what you can do to it.

i belive my friend has a 90 240, so if it came to working on it, or just its engine that would probably be the one that was featured, im a ways from borowing cars though so no promisis

Quote »i would like to see lots of DIY articles for certain cars i.e. 240sx and tests of aftermarket pieces.
DIY's is the angle of the mag im aming for. hopfully i can find enough projects so the madjority of the mag is DIY's, and the rest just being the project cars and the feature. And for testing parts, a few people seem to want that. people on DSMtuners wanted tests of turbo systsms on the same car with the same mods to get a good baseline, clubrsx wanted a feature on tires simalar to what GRM did. If theres a reader base for this (which there obviously is) then ill be doing it

Quote »definitly more how-to's.......installing stuff is the best part and i agree for the 240 besides that more dynos and teaching stuff about the general ideas behind cars. like setups for turbos or about the trannie. stuff like that...... go super street!
so you _would_ want articals on installs? also history behind specific cars seems to be wanted also, maby i could do a little history on a car each month, ill write that down, setups for turbo's and transmission's is already written down, you saying it just reinforces it

Well, its your opinion so it cant be wrong, and hell i couldnt agree with you more. again DIY's are what i want to feature, oh yeah ill say it now, Im making a magizine, tuning tips is also already in the game plan. So you wouldnt care if i didnt do model's at all? I didnt want to really, bt wasnt sure if i should exclude em. Video game, music, lifestyle crap you WONT see, i sont want that, and readers ride will be much better, athestic qualities of a car wont help at all for a car to get featured, all about the Tech.

the last couple of turbo's have been good, i want to see the dyno #'s of the compound forced induction mr2 myself

thanks for all the great info guys, oh and im not here just to ask you these questions for my mag, my friend has a 240 and my brother wants one, so i deffintly need to learn about them.

i have to agree with all the above comments but i have one thing to add. . . on DIY's and tech reviews, i always wanna see prices for the pieces in question. I know that some of the magazines get their freebies from the manufacturer and such, but a MSRP would be great for all of us broke DIY'ers out here

just my 2 cents

Yeap, i am, there are a few hundred things left to do before i can say it is a magizine.. but im working towards it

as for name, its either going to be Tech Side (or some slight varience of) or garageTuners (which i have cleared with the garageTuners forum)

i will need writers, but not right now. If you have some articals you want to _give_ me that you have already written id be happy to take them and give you full credit for them, but im also a poor college student so as of now i cant pay anyone for work, hopfully when all gets running i will beable to outsource and pay people.

Pricing out a project would be a extremely usefull, the only mag that i have seen to do that is GRM, and they are even nice enough to list what they paid, and what it would cost if you were to do it, ill deffiently keep running tab's of all the projects now that it has been brought up

RB swap been done already im getting a RB25 installed come this September:). its just that nobody wants to waste their time with some of thiose mags. You enter your car and A) your car gets beat out buy a civic SI with bk and graphics when your car caries a RB25 in it. B) OR your car is in the mag. and in the whole article, nothing as to what they say pertains to the car. Just what they did at a susage party. it's not worth our time at all. These mags. now are more directed to the ricers in the industry instead of enthusist. (i spelled that sooo worng)

I agree with cyberkrieg, we need more DC2s, and EKs and EGs, there are barely any in those mags. More mags should also hve a huge sponsorship by APC. Oh yeah. I think there should be more of the exotic swaps done to one of those cars, i.e., a C30A into an EK. Or of course like you all have said, an RB25, or 26. into a Nissan of course.

not really check out the guys prices. If you want a RB26DETT in a S13, i really doubt you seeing anything like that at all. 1) the engine is 7500-8000 grand 2) finding someone who has a poop load of time to cut and weld your engine bay for it to fit. 3) then finding away to make the AWD work. then you'll have a 280hp AWD 240sc. you dumped about 20G's into your car... You look back and say to your self "SELF! yeeees?! I should of just put a down payment on a 350 instead..."

How about a column written by the average schmuck (like myself). It could be about anything, and written by a different guy every month. Would be a good way the let the average "garage tuner" to voice their opinions, concerns, gripes, etc. You'd probably get a lot of B.S., but could you weed those out.Just an idea.....Are you seriously starting up a new mag? Do you have backers, sponsors, etc.? Good luck, its a hard industry to break into.

I do plan on paying people, as soon as i can afford it, but atleast for the first issue i cant afford much at all. Im looking to take out a small business loan, maby i will beable to pay people first month, i dont know though, ill have to wait and see.

thats a good idea, im goin to have a readers letters section but giving one reader a full column each month would be a cool idea.

Yeah i am. As for people backing me, i dont know yeat, i know ill have help and stuff, but as for money i think im on my own. It does seem like a hard industry, i just hope i can make it work, and keep it intreasting and the way i see it now.
