I30 - Shift Locks - Cannot shift from P to D - Brake Relay does not click

Hi,

I have 2001 I30. After I start, the shift locks and I cannot move it from Park to Drive. To release the lock, I have to press the Shift unLock switch which results in brake lights not working. After reading the postings (lalewisposted for 2001 pathfinder) , I figured that I do not hear the click of Brake Relay when I press the brakes, so the Shift Lockout does not get unlocked.

Any advice please ? How do I locate the Brake Relay ( if it needs to be replaced ).

See if the brake light fuse has burnt out. Saw this happen on a few other cars and they also refused to shift until the fuse was replaced.

Thanks DrewQ45, I've checked the Stop Lamp fuse (fuse block inside car, under steering), and its fine. I'm guessing Brake Light fuse is the same as Stop Lamp Fuse. If its different, please let me know where is it.

Any other clues please ?
